  1. Awesome - it's the best feeling when you manage to figure something out yourself that has been bugging you. Thanks for posting. Chris!
  2. Hi Chavez, welcome to the forums, Don't worry we'll get Flirc working for you. Possibly the easiest thing to do would be to test if it is your XBMCbuntu machine or flirc. Try plugging flirc into another machine and see if the same behavior is observed. One of the other moderators - Digitalb0y - wrote a guide on techinical Flirc stuff in XBMCbuntu so I assume it's working fine for him (). Please post back what happens, pleasant regards, Chris!
  3. Probably as each of the 2 - 3 button presses sends out different packets. You can try recording each one: (tip is right at the bottom) Sorry I can't be more helpful for your particular remote Chris!
  4. Hi xabih, By Lirc do you mean Flirc? Flirc + another keyboard (connected via mini-DIN) should work fine. The easiest way to test if Flirc + [any combination] would work is to use a USB keyboard in place of the Flirc. If USB keyboard + [any combination] works then Flirc + [any combination] will work Let me know if I haven't answered the question, Pleasant regards, Chris! (p.s. welcome to the forums)
  5. In this case I think it is the Flirc responding to any IR signal (so nothing the harmony can do about it). Your best bet would be to wait for Jason to release a firmware where the wake up only occurs from one specified button. I have not ETA on this though. I'm assuming the Flirc is doing great otherwise? Pleasant regards, Chris!
  6. We'll have to wait for digitalb0y or Jason for the logs (i'm not as knowledgeable - sorry) But in the meantime did you manage to test the one your wife was using before to see if the same behaviour is observed when it is swapped?
  7. Hi sfish130, welcome to the forums Failing anyone else chipping in (I only have a harmony 300), this should be useful: pleasant regards, Chris
  8. Indeed, the simplest way would be to trace the issue would be to check if the Flirc unit causes it or something on the machine. Try swapping the Flirc's and see if the same thing happens Pleasant regards, Chris!
  9. We generally have recommended TV profiles to use flirc as they have desirable scrolling frequency. Although I haven't tested other devices very comprehensively. It may be worth experimenting with other device profiles to see if you get a good usage model out of flirc and harmony. Post back here if you do find a better fit. Pleasant regards Chris!
  10. Thanks for reporting back (bonus point for posting with a solution too!) Pleasant regards Chris!
  11. A picture and a brief mention (very brief): http://xbmc.us/njbetzen/2012/06/14/a-brief-introduction-to-xbmc-us/
  12. Hi iainmacleod, It may be that the code the signal the remote is sending is the same or similar. If you are using the GUI (which from the command line prompt you provided above you're not) it will show that the button is already recorded. Two things to try: 1) Use the Flirc GUI to program those buttons - see if anything unusual happens 2) Check in the harmony software that the buttons are definitely mapped to different functions I may give digitalb0y and friendly message to see if he can help or suggest anything to do via command line if GUI option isn't viable to you (as he's very knowledgeable in those parts) Pleasant regards, Chris!
  13. Hi spazbob, welcome to the forums! I believe you can adjust various things such as interkey delay etc (http://blog.logitech...he-help-button/) Another test you could do is program the harmony remote as the sony bravia remote (using the model number too) that way you could even more certain it was the harmony remote (as your are trying to emulate a remote that is functioning as expected). Thanks for posting, I do find your findings interesting, Pleasant regards Chris!
  14. Hi Regio, Sorry for the late reply - stuff came up, Welcome to the forums. Unfortunately most of the information regarding user experiences of remotes and Flirc relies on people owning the remotes and reporting back. We can say that remotes should work as IR has standards etc but sometimes things don't pan out for one reason or another due to other circumstances. I took a quick look on the amino website but it was a bit vague, do you have a model number for the remotes you are using so I could direct my search a bit more. (Also it will help other users who have the same remote to decide if Flirc is a good or bad solution for them) Pleasant regards, Chris!
  15. I thought you could turn off music visualiser in the settings of XBMC so they never turn on (is this what you wanted?) Pleasant regards, Chris!
  16. You can't map the same remote button press to two different commands for Flirc (as it would send both commands). At the moment your all-off button is mapped to "s" right? Delete the "s" key using the Flirc GUI then try adding F2 as described by Burke. Unless I've misunderstood something (have I?) Pleasant regards Chris!
  17. Awesome. Thanks for the feedback (especially useful to me as I dont have access to a windows computer).
  18. Hi All, Thought i'd let you know that Jason is concerned about the "sticky key" effect sometimes observed (e.g. when a key on the remote is pressed multiple times in quick succession resulting in a lot more scrolling than anticipated). This is due to the way Flirc currently implements how it receives a signal, Jason explains it beautifully below: As you can see there are significant variables in there: As you can imagine and appreciate it will take a lot of Jason's work and (personal free) time, so your patience is appreciated - rest assured it's on his list, at the earliest after wake is perfected. Pleasant regards Chris
  19. Usually we reccomend TV profiles as they keep sending button presses when held down. Though I did read on another thread today that sky HD remote preset works pretty well too. Pleasant regards Chris
  20. If they are uploaded somewhere (I use my google+ account... may as well use it for something) you can click the picture button about halfway across the second row in the post editor. Thanks for sharing about the remote... $4 dollars! Chris!
  21. Hi rocketpants, welcome to the Flirc forums (nice to see a familiar XBMC forum user), I don't use windows so can't verify but back in the day it used to have windows on-screen keyboard (part of accessibility options) - that may show what keys are being pressed. Also a great user made a little utility which I believe can test combinations (but again; I can't test it): Or you could try mapping a different combination to open XBMC (one that could be seen in notepad or just another combination ) Pleasant regards, Chris!
  22. Map page up and page down to channel down and channel up on your remote to skip larger quantities of your library.
  23. If you press shift and the letter it jumps to that letter and further pressing will skip to the next film that begins with the same letter. Pleasant regards, Chris
  24. Oh dear. Does the play button cause a crash everywhere in xbmc (music, video etc) or just one place. A debug log may help. I'll help where I can but it may turn out to be an XBMC issue. Pleasant regards Chris
  25. I'm guessing nobody has used the coloured buttons. But I appreciate you going through the trouble to figure out what was happening so I'll remember to factor that in to any issues anyone has in future. Jason is working on a major UI update (hense why there hasn't been a release for a while) - hopefully it will be addressed the the next release.
