  1. You should provide some infos on your setup, e.g. OS ...
  2. You don't need to run the flirc.exe to use your flirc usb stick with a remote. The GUI exe is just used for the configuration. Once configured, the stick "knows" by itself what to do when receiving a command from your remote (remote command/button press > IR signal to Flirc stick > stick translates IR command to a keystroke).
  3. What do you need the GUI for? Flirc runs fine without the GUI programm running....
  4. Correct me, if I'm wrong, but shows the front end not always the configuration currently saved on the flirc? Isn't every change to a button directly saved to the flirc itself?
  5. Yeah, that the right way, works for me pretty well, hab to reprogramm some buttons myself (with an apple remote you have to carefully choose what buttons to assign as you have just 7 physical ones ;-) ). Furthermore, shouldn't you be able to save every configuration to a single file on your desktop in the front end via File > Save ? (Sry, my flirc is at home, can test it right now).
  6. I don't know if I understood you correctly. Try to click in the Flirc software on erase and then click on the virtual button you'd like the reassign... probably make a backup of your current configuration via 'save configuration' ... you also shouldn't loose your configuraton due to a pc crash as the current configuration is saved on your Flirc stick (afaik)
  7. @Rumik: Same here - but see, if the software isn't installed anyway. I used the zadig tool, then tried to install the flirc software which of course yielded back an error about installing the driver. However, the software itself was copied to the installation path (c:\.......). If this works for you too, it would be interesting to know what kind of remote you use and if you also have problems about assigning buttons or double key presses... Edit: Ok, I just made a fool out of me. Zadig or installation via temporarly deactivating driver signature enforcment works perfectly well. And there is also no problem that one can't assign different keys (I just hadn't realisied that the remote button configuration is saved on the flirc stick). So everything is fine, will move on to beta firmware testing...
  8. I just tested my flirc with another machine (Win7 x64), and there it works perfectly well. I can assign all functions to the right buttons on my apple remote (v2). Apparantly it is a driver issue. Could the driver transport/translate the different IR commands wrongly so that for the software all incoming signals (from the remote or more likely from the flirc itself) appear the same? (I have the problem that apparantly the flirc software interprets all buttons of my remote as the same, see above). Edit: Ok, I just made a fool out of me. Zadig or installation via temporarly deactivating driver signature enforcment works perfectly well. 9. Similar problem here. I have installed with the zadig tool, but when I want to bind my apple remote buttons to a function, it just works for one button. For the next one Flirc tells me that this button already exists... Edit: Ok, I just made a fool out of me.
