I am such a newbie here but I have read from several forums that what i'm looking for is possible. I would like to control my tv with script. Such script that could navigate trough settings menus and set values to brightness, contrast ect... I have decent understanding of python but what I do not understand is what commands to send and how trough RS-232. I chose RS-232 over IR since from IR you cannot get feedback to the script and for the script to work it would need to know the starting value of lets say brightness.
I think with IR this would be so much simplier, just getting right codes with an IR reciever and then sending those same codes but I do not know where to start looking controls over RS-232.. Any help is valuable and please be specific! I am total noob here.
