I must be blind, I can't see one.
RW, Play/Pause & FW are the only traditional media control buttons.

The colour option goes back to the making it harder by trying to be simpler. On other remotes that have dedicated colour buttons, it’s a one click action that requires no thought once you have a little muscle memory, with your option it may require up to 5 button pushes right?
Yes, as a programable remote anything can be anything, and in my case as I’ve said I don’t use RW or FF, it would be the easy option.
Let’s say I program it that way, and you come over to my place and I’m cooking you some food and ask you to stop the playback, what do you do, how on earth do you know what button to push to stop? You don’t, your friend doesn’t, your mum/wife/boyfriend/sister etc doesn’t. The Stop button isn’t some obscure command, it’s on most other remotes for a reason. It’s just these new super simple to make it harder remotes that it’s being removed. -

Here are my 2 cents:
Why do you hate the Stop button? I have seen this on a few new universal remotes that have come out since Logitech killed Harmony, and it has been a common complaint from prospective buyers. There are instances where the Back button simply can't take that roll. Eg, Kodi for Android/Android TV, the back button will keep the media playing, and simply go back into the menu, they will not allow the back button to function as Stop. You can't use a Flirc to simulate a Stop Button for an Nvidia Shield, as there is no keyboard command for it. Of course we all use devices differently, but I don't think I have used the FF or RW keys in over a decade, I personally use the CCT to do that, but I use the Stop button daily.
Lack of colour buttons is a deal breaker for many in Europe.
Nate, I saw you post on the Kodi forum, saying a Harmony 650 has too many buttons, and this is where you will have two different schools of thought; those that like to have all controls within reach and can understand what they are looking at, and those that breath through their mouth and are scared of options. My house has both types, I want all the options on the remote, I found the simplified options to be counter productive, as they drive the interaction away from the single button press into multiple button presses to get the same result form digging into the menu. Take the Stop button again, many Kodi users simply say to press the button to bring up the control menu, then select down and across to the stop button. Ok, it's doable, but you have taken a single button press that was quick and just above thoughtless, into a multi action operation requiring concentration on where the commands are going.
My other half, she likes simplified remotes so she can't be bamboozled by something she does't interact with as often.
I see you plan on a Bluetooth model in the future, great, that will help with many devices.
Software, one thing I couldn't see in any video, and no surprised, it's a small population that will want it, is the ability to add timed delay to start up commands for devices already in the Power On chain, Harmony couldn't do this either. EG, power on LG TV, Nvidia Shield and AVR while eARC is in use, the CEC must be enabled. An LG TVz, and I am guessing others, can take quite a while to fully turn on, and even if it is the first item in the Power On activity, it may not be fully on until after the 3rd/4th etc.. item is powered on. What happens here, is the CEC chain will fire up late, and the TV will change it's input to what the Shield is on, when maybe you wanted the HDMI input to be on different one. So what you would want is the ability to send a delayed command to switch HDMI input to one of the devices already in the power on chain. I needed this in the past, and I found out quite a lot of Sonos owners wanted this function too.
Would love a screen. basically a Harmony 650 with IR and Bluetooth.
Will keep an eye out for your BT model when you post news for it.

When this thread was started, the difference between Pro and non-Pro, was simply a hard drive, this changed a little over the years, then 2019 update occurred, and the little stick thing appeared as a Shield TV and there was a far bigger difference. You will find all prior talk is now effectively relevant only to the current Pro model.

Good point, sorry I forgot the 2017 16GB Shield has no IR port as well, and assumed you were using the Harmony on a Shield with IR receiver. You are just using he Flirc to receive commands.
I would assume no, the Flirc will not be receiving/processing the Harmony IR commands, but I could be wrong.

Technically nothing; as it's based on Shield remote, there is no sleep/power button on the remote.
I should be clear, it's a Sleep toggle, not Power. It will put the Shield to Sleep.
You can use the remote to invoke the power options menu, by holding the Back button, but that can only be done on the home menu/lean back screen. Toddel wants to be able to to what that offers from any app, rather than having to go back to the Lean Back screen first

There is a power toggle option in the Harmony setting for the Shield, use that, it's what I use.

BTW a question to Shield users. What is the current Android version on the device? Does it allow installing software from other sources (e.g. from the apk file)? I'm thinking that there may be a way to write a background service application which would then map keyboard input to other input events depending on the application which is in focus.
We are on Android TV v7.0.
Yes, you can sideload apks, if you allow it in the settings.
There are existing Keymapper that can be installed and used. I used to use Multilanguage Keymap Redefiner to achieve extra controls before I had a Flirc.

I'm not just gonna run Kodi on it, I'll use it for Netlix, HBO Nordic (if they can make an app) Viaplay, SVT Play and blah blah blah... so I want the remote to work in all apps just like the original remote + extra keys for Kodi and apps alike.
So do as per what you quoted:
Use the Shield layout for basic transport (navigation, ok, home, back) and then use the Kodi keymap - or just the full keyboard - for whatever else you want to do.

Are you still using the Fire TV profile as your quoted text suggests?
If so, why when Jason has said the Shield profile is already available.

Anyone figured out the "Enter" button not working in some apps, like HBO Go, yet?
Enter or Enter/Return? They are two different things with different results in some apps.

My testing was on the Apple USB keyboard and that statement stands correct for that board in that it replicated all actions of the remote whereas Return didn't.

For the above chart with a keyboard ENTER = OKAY on the remote.
So that is ENTER, not Enter\Return.
On an Apple keyboard they are marked as two separate things, and ENTER is the correct one.

Mapping the Fire TV Home button didn't do anything.
The Return key on the Remote is akin to Backspace on the Keyboard.
I was using an Apple wired Keyboard for my tests.
To mimic the Shield Remote to Keyboard
Up, Down, Left & Right = directional keys.
Okay/Enter = Enter (Not Enter/Return)
Return = Backspace
Home = Start + Enter together
Speech = Start on nitewulf's Keyboard & Command on Apple Keyboard.
Volume Slider = Volume Controls
However, most don't want to mimic the Remote, they want the Controller as it has extra inputs.
I will have to load a game to see what can be achieved.

Mostly, it appears to work OK, however I've run into the following problems under kodi:
- the "page down" flirc harmony command acts like down arrow instead.
- the "page up" flirc harmony command acts like up arrow instead.
- the "codecinfo" flirc harmony command doesn't seem to generate anything. I'd have thought that it would be mapped to the key 'o'. If I press it when I'm in a text box (like the search box on google play) nothing gets output.
After spending hours on it yesterday, you seem to have done the same as me, simply added Flirc Kodi to your MyHarmony setup. You then need to use the Flirc program to make sure keys are mapped correctly.
So download the Flirc program (site is giving an error at the moment), insert your Flirc to computer, Select Controllers - Full Keyboard and then program the Page Up, Page Down and Codec Info to the relevant keyboard commands.
I have Up, Down, Left & Right using the Shield IR commands and Page Up & Down as the Flircs Kodi commands

Hi, is there any update to this?
I have just purchased two Flircs for my Shields, and have set one up so far with my Harmony 650 but I am getting less than positive results.
I have added it as a device in MyHarmony as a Flirc Media Player (Flirc Kodi) and most of the Kodi specific commands do not respond. What device have people set this up as if not as a Flirc with the Kodi profile?
One thing I noticed in this profile is that Kodi on the Shield will not distinguish between Up and Page Up, or Down and Page Down. There is no Page effect, it still only moves it one point at a time, and not over several items.
EDIT:
Sorry, realised I had misunderstood how the Flirc worked. I simply applied the Flirc Kodi profile to my Harmony and did nothing else.
I didn't realise I then had to do the extra key mapping with the Flirc program, all sorted now.
I now have all that I have selected working except for Full Screen command in Kodi. I have tried both Backslash "\" and Tab which are both related to Full Screen commands, and neither works.

Ahhh, yes they are.
Ok, some more feedback, layout of media buttons has poor UI. This is akin to having the 6 and 8 buttons away from the rest of the numbers.
I was recently on another forum/Reddit (???) where I saw another post about no Stop button, so I’m not alone with my targeted eyes.
