  1. It works now with assigned 'power' and these settings:

    Settings:

     sleep detection:  Enabled

     noise canceler:   Disabled

     inter-key delay:  3

     seq. modifiers:   Disabled

     state:            0

     builtin profiles: Disable

Thank you for your help so far.

But it works only within S5. In the running system, the button assigned with 'power' is without function.

Could you implement 'power'-key emitting in the next firmware version?

    Best regards

    Alex

    update should address this.

  2. = (

Really sorry for the trouble. I know it's exhausting.

It's nerve wrecking on my end too. There are a number of reports in this thread of people saying things have gone completely south with the upgrade, and every time, my heart drops. I have a production run going on right now and it's upgrading everything to 3.5, so you can only imagine what it feels like thinking something catastrophic is going on that I missed.

    Glad it's up and running.

  3. Now, I am just getting mad. I updated all three to firmware 3.5 (which is weird...because two were at 3.1 last night and one was at 2.6...I updated the one on 2.6 and it only updated to 3.1...then, today, when I was doublechecking that they were all up to date...there was 3.5...so, I updated them all to 3.5) and software version 1.3.4.

I have now spent several hours of my weekend trying to get this to work...and it is the worst it has been.

I cannot get xbmc to do anything but start and close...nothing else works.

I am using a DirecTV RC65R remote (all three remotes are this model).

Oddly enough, the only two buttons I use that have a combination of keys is the button to open Kodi (I use the hotkeys ctrl+alt+z) and the button to close Kodi (alt+F4)...and these are the only two buttons that now work (even they are not consistant with working).

I have attached a diagram that demonstrates the layout I have been using successfully, until yesterday.

    attachicon.gifDirecTV_Remote_Kodi_Keys_Flirc.jpg

This worked really great and I loved it so much, I decided to buy two more for each of my boys' computers. I thought it would be an easy thing to copy over the configuration to the two new ones...it has been anything but easy..

Not sure why everyone is having trouble. Version 3.5 is virtually the same as 3.1.

Can you try formatting, and starting over? What do you mean it's not working? Can you describe? Do you press buttons, and nothing happens? or is it not working correctly?

Are you able to pair keys with the GUI but they don't work?

Can you make sure the GUI is closed when in use?

  4.

I just wanted to share some experience with Flirc since I attached to my fireTV.

    1. I had a lot of problems after flashing the device to the v3.5. For example, the not detected key every two presses. Or taking long to detect them and then suddenly execute all the buttons extremely quickly.

However, I got rid of them with the following settings:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Flirc>flirc_util.exe settings

    flirc_util version v1.3.4 [v1.3.4+]
      Firmware: v3.5 [77E94DBB]

    Settings:
      sleep detection:  Disabled
      noise canceler:   Disabled
      inter-key delay:  3
      seq. modifiers:   Disabled
      state:            0
      builtin profiles: Disable

    2. I was playing with my riitek i13 that is an IR remote control with RF keyboard, and I realized that the following keys are mapped as follows:
    - Home button -> ZoomOut for the browser, multimedia key
    - Microphone -> ZoomIn for the browser

I do not know if that is specific of my configuration, because I have a Xposed Module and a rooted fireTV, but my feeling is that it is common configuration. If somebody could confirm it that would be great.

Now I am just missing the continuous key press, as if I keep the key pressed it should repeat the key and I don't have to press it multiple times.
I am sure that by changing the settings I disabled that by mistake, but I couldn't find any guide about what are the settings for.

    Questions:
    -------------
    a. Is there any guide that explains what do the different settings do?
    b. Can you confirm that the ZoomIn / ZoomOut trigger these functionalities?

Thanks a lot for this piece of hardware! as now I can even set to standby my fireTV, something that I couldn't do before with the fireTV remote, and I can control my volume and assign different keys to my setup.

[EDIT] Btw, it is the noise canceler the one that makes the detection of only one every two presses.

You should change your interkey_delay settings in the gui to 5 or 6, that should help the repeat

I'm not sure what you mean zoomin/zoomout? You referring to Kodi?

How are you doing your standby? Did you map a specific key?

  5. I'm sorry you're frustrated. When you clear the configuration, did you see any better results?  How about the 3.1 firmware units you have, how are they behaving? There isn't an easy way to downgrade at the moment. But if you keep talking with me, I'll try and get you through whatever trouble you're having quickly. I'm online too: jasonkotzin on gchat and skype

  6. fixed it me self.  turned the repeat to 1 not 0 but it was at 3 and only doubling so i figured i would try 1 first got that double channel done seems to be working fine now after deleting the devices and their drivers from device manager then rebooting pc it then re installed drivers and i was good to go.   this can be closed now edit also i had gotten the other gui in the beta forum and installed firmware 3.4 on it

    okay, great. Glad it's working.

  7. Similar issue here with three different Sony VL Series remotes. Except I get more than a double-press. This has got to be something associated with the way the Fire TV is handling the bit stream generated by the Flirc IR receiver.

It is. For the harmony guys, I will put together some formal documentation shortly.

    But yes, it's firetv.

Every operating system has a 'key repeat' and firetv is set way to short. While it appears as 'double presses' it is actually the start of a stream of characters.

Think regular computer, you press a keyboard key and hold, and after a set time, the stream starts.

The stream is starting on the firetv, and you only get the first key of the stream, and the original key, making you think it's two presses.

I sent them a note, I don't think I can fix this in my device.

One thing you can try is enabling the noise filter, which waits for multiple button hits before sending the command.

For the harmony, delete, re-add firetv, and try again. They updated their settings recently.

  8. Well now i am totally screwed up. Program a button and it learns something else. Have tried erasing and starting over and getting same result. Really want this to work but running out of patience

Yeah, if you can't wait until this weekend, I'll accept a return, I'm sorry. I'm just one person and I couldn't begin to describe the amount on my plate.

If you can clear your config, disable 'built in profiles' and record the one key which you think ends up being something different. Post your config after that, and let me take a look.

  9. Same problem here....using a Harmony 650. Wife is about ready to kill me because she uses skip and back often and i cannot get them to work doing any of the methods mentioned. Is there an eta on this? If not, I likely will have to return.

I understand the problem, and I need to see how windows remotes are working. Please give me until around sunday, I will work on it over the weekend. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience. I've bought 3 windows media center remotes, none of them work.

I'll make some trips to the electronics store and grab other computers. Once I do that, it shouldn't take me more than the day to figure it out, and implement a fix.

  10. I'm not sure why are are getting bad remotes, but this one is one of the most common ones used in HTPCs. It was a toss up between getting the FLIRC and one of these for me.

that's the one I'm using. The USB device does not enumerate. I will try different PC's later this week when I have time.

  11. Sure!

I am running Kodi 14.1 on an Amazon Fire TV.

I have a Harmony One remote set to Flirc XBMC. I set the interkey delay to 0ms, input delay to 500ms, and inter-device to 500ms (I have tried several settings for interkey and input delay)

Device command repeats is at 1 currently but increasing or decreasing this did not help at all when noise canceler was enabled.

I have noise canceler off and interkey delay at 0 using builtin profiles.

My current setup is nice and responsive its just odd that even though I don't touch the remote the filrc is randomly responding to something!  I just tried adding a USB extension and moved the flirc away from the Fire TV which is also in a unit with glass shelves.  I also took black electrical tape and wrapped it around the flirc only exposing the front of it.

It seems that the IR sensors are VERY sensitive on this unit.  I had the Flirc plugged in to the back of the Fire TV facing backwards and I can still control it no problem without a direct line of sight.  I am hoping that by wrapping it with the tape it might help block out any excessive noise it is picking up.  I will get a chance to test it out later tonight but it I haven't noticed it randomly turning on since which is a good sign.

Are you on version 3.5 of the firmware? Are you using the built in profile, or did you record the keymappings?
