Very Simple to setup yet robust media solution. .My setup includes (PLEX, XBMC, Boxee, Hulu Desktop, AutoHotkey), using http://www.flirc.tv/ with my DirecTv remote setting AV1 to my Audio reciever and AV2 to (DirecTV Reciever 00003). It allows me to switch between the apps with a touch of a button. Thanks to Flirc since it is what makes it so easy.

Script for AutoHotkey (KillEmAll.exe is an AutoIt Script that I wrote to kill unresponding processes; not really needed)...

^!M::Run "C:\Windows\ehome\ehshell.exe"

^!b::Run ""C:\Program Files (x86)\Boxee\BOXEE.exe"

^!x::Run "C:\Program Files (x86)\XBMC\XBMC.exe"

^!h::Run "%LOCALAPPDATA%\HuluDesktop\HuluDesktop.exe"

^!p::Run "C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Center\Plex.exe"

^!q::Run "KillEmAll.exe"

Now my Flirc and Remote are programmed to allow for control in all the apps with their default installs...

I'm curious; why do you have Plex, XBMC and Boxee?

You certainly know how to make the most of FLIRC! :)

Well Plex is my work horse and of course handles all of my movies and tv shows. It is absolutely amazing but can't do it all.

XBMC fills in with addons. I also use it for content I want to play but not to index.

Windows Media Center is mainly for Netflix at the moment. I would love to find a command\script to launch directly into Netflix.

Boxee is just a horse I haven't put out to pasture yet. I like the interface of a couple of the web content addons but I don't see myself using it much longer.

Another tip for starting applications from a windows desktop with the remote, is to place all programs in the task bar next to start menu button.

Then you program your remote to start programs with the command "Windows key + 1" for the first program, "Windows key + 2" for the next program. Program no.1 is always the program next to the start menu.

Requires Windows 7

You have to know the quality of any Netflix plugin for XBMC\ Plex can't compare to the Netflix developed addon for WMC.

BTW: I did figure out how to launch directly into Netflix so all is good now.

Please do share how you managed to get directly yo Netflix in WMC
