Harmony profile device type

Hi there,

Chris mentions in his how to post about the harmony beta profile how to set it up, but the harmony software requires you select a device type before being able to search for the device... Can anyone tell me what the device type is?

Thanks

One more question, as I have your attention?

Using the flirc XBMC beta profile, am i supposed to run the flirc software and configure it to use XBMC, or can i configure it as a keyboard, or doesn't it matter?

Really I'm just doing this so I can send the machine to sleep and wake like all my other devices.

No. It's already synced up. You just need the software to upgrade the firmware (which it should do automatically on first run)

Not sure the Flirc harmony profile has custom keys in it yet... we're working on that - hence why it's still in beta.

At the moment everything in the xbmc preset in the flirc GUI and some more (I counted 52 buttons in total).

I gave the profile a try a long time ago and been using it without wake etc - though forum posts lead me to believe that buttons can't be remapped to wake. You could try this if you like.

I was talking to Jason about getting custom buttons added which he approved of

If you use the new firmware but use the TV profile instead () that way you can assign a wake button and custom keys.

But you lose the great response time of our specially tweaked profile.

Unfortunately as both me and Jason have full time jobs development is slow (not that I do any development) - it will get sorted though :)

Happy Flirc-ing

  • 5 weeks later...

I have gotten my firc to run with my little Openelec htpc, and my Harmony 900 remote. I am using the beta firmware version... and programming it directly as an FLIRC device in the Harmony software.

I would like to take it a few steps further... I would like to add specific scripts to my Soft Buttons... For example, I would like to add a script like:

RunScript(script.xbmc.subtitles)

But I see no way of dioing this other than using the color buttons on the remote... Issue is that I want to have many more custom commands than I have colored remote buttons. I know I can map the scripts to the Keyboard.xml to say the F8 key... but there is no F8 key in the flirc device.

Any guidance or advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hernando

We're working on adding buttons that the user can customise in the harmony setting for flirc.

It's my number 1 request too!

For the meantime you have to choose between nice response times (flirc harmony setting) and customisation (using a tv device on your harmony to control flirc)
