dvd8n 0 Report post Posted January 25 I set up by new Flirc today to use a Pioneer DVD remote with Kodi on a Raspberry Pi, including updating the firmware. It did not work; I tried it on a PC and all keypresses seemed to come through as a lower case i. This is the debug. Any ideas? yawor 76 Report post Posted January 26 Hi, Can you provide exact model of that Pioneer remote or a model of DVD it's for? I'll try to replicate that.
dvd8n 0 Report post Posted January 26 It's for a Pioneer DV-410V. I tried it with a Pioneer Bluray remote too and it was unreliable with that too. Possibly related - both gave a lot of 'button already exists' errors when programming. I tried a popcorn hour remote and that seems to work a lot better. yawor 76 Report post Posted January 26 Ok, I've configured my universal remote for that DVD player and I know what's going on. The remote actually sends two frames (sets of signals) on a single button press. The issue is that the first frame is always the same and only the second one differs depending on the button. When recording, Flirc sees the first frame and records it. When you record next button, Flirc sees the same first frame again and reports an error because it already has it recorded in the memory. Probably the second one, for Bluray, uses the same schema. I'm sorry to disappoint you but there's nothing I can do for you at the moment to make these remotes work for you. It's hard to add support for control schemes like that and this takes a lot of time and testing.
dvd8n 0 Report post Posted January 26 Thanks for looking at it. :) It's no big deal; I'll use a different remote. However, I think it would be useful to document remotes that don't work to save people wasting time with them.
