blueribb
A friend told me to try my new Harmony 650 using the Microsoft Media Center Extender profile with a plain IR before using the Flirc USB Dongle. I ordered an HP MCE IR on eBay last night and it will take a week or so to be delivered. In the meantime, can I use the Flirc USB Dongle without programming it to pass plain IR commands ?Intel i5 NUC 3rd gen (no built-in IR)OpenELEC 5.95.
yawor
Hi,Sorry, you can't do that with Flirc. Flirc works as an USB keyboard where you record a button from the remote and assign a key (optionally with modifiers) to it. It all happens in hardware so after programming you don't need any additional software installed on a target system. All it needs is to be able to be controller from a USB keyboard. There's no mode where the IR signal is just forwarded to the system.
blueribb
Thanks, that's what I thought. If my Harmony 650 performs most major functions out of the box with a standard IR, maybe I'll fill in some extra keys using the Flirc at the same time.
