  1. Hi, I just received a new FLIRC (the new model). I'm running FW 4.05 and GUI 2.0.1 on a Asrock Z77 Pro4 (Windows 7) I'm having two problems: firstly, I can't get the FLIRC to wake the computer. I've tried enabling and disabling "Wake from USB mouse/kb" in the MB BIOS. I've also tried selecting (and deselecting) all of the "Allow device to wake from sleep" check boxes in device manager to no effect. What is weird is that my computer wakes up from sleep fine using a logitech diNovo edge bluetooth keyboard, but nothing happens through FLIRC. Additionally, and this is probably related, whenever I wake the computer from sleep using the keyboard, FLIRC is disconnected, and I need to remove it and plug it back in again. I've tried plugging it in multiple USB 2.0 and 3.0 slots, and they all produce the same error. Also, in the FAQ, I saw that sometimes power supplies can be an issue, but I've got a Seasonic PS, so I don't think that's the issue. I also made sure that "sleep detection" is checked Any ideas? I'd really like to be able to turn my computer on/off with my new harmony remote. Should I try installing 1.4.4? does that work with the newer FLIRC models? TY in advance!
  2. If you have been wondering on how to make Kodi work with Flirc and Harmony remotes to automatically suspend without you having to call up the shutdown menu or be stuck with the other methods that limit suspend commands to the home screen of Kodi this is how to do it with Kodi v15 at time of writing. Thx to GoodOmens for the tip though his info is a little out of date now so this is a guide on how to do it all. Kodi/Openelec Go to system information and make a note of it's IP address Turn on SSH in Kodi services Harmony Software Devices Flirc Media Player Change Device Settings Power Settings I want to turn this device off when not in use I press the same button for on and off Add command and select PowerOff (if you have messed with poweroff before finding this guide choose the fix command and reset IR code for PowerOff) Sync remote Go to Flirc software Select file clear configuration Select full keyboard Select Ctrl+F12 (as Kodi wont respond to this at least not yet) Go to devices on Harmony remote and select Flirc media player then hit the power off key to map it to Ctrl+F12 (requires harmony with display screen or map power off to physical button) From Windows Download WinSCP Select SFTP Input Kodi IP address Username = root and password = openelec Once logged in select options\preferences\panels and tick the box for “show hidden files” Browse to /storage/.kodi/userdata/keymaps folder Create a file called remote.xml Copy and paste in the text below, then save (old floppy disk icon) <keymap> <global> <keyboard> <f12 mod="ctrl">XBMC.Suspend()</f12> </keyboard> </global> </keymap> Exit WinSCP Kodi/Openelec Reboot the system (required for new xml to take effect) Now if all goes well when using Harmony activities the system should go into suspend. If you've been wondering why not just use the stock Flirc/Kodi power off command combined with the Kodi settings\power saving changing it from shutdown to suspend, this doesn't work. If you go this path the system will always wake up when using any activity and not go into suspend, the stock power off command is bugged somehow like it's being sent multiple times.
  3. Hello, there is a strange bug with the volume +/- buttons in Win10 , all works fine under Libreelec 8. Remote is Harmony 350 and V2 Flirc. Standard Flirc/Kodi setup in MyHarmony. When i try to map the volume buttons in Win10 GUI (latest firmware) under Kodi remote both of +/- are responding as volume up, green blink on volume up for both buttons. Win Kodi is also responding in same manner with volume up on both buttons. On same PC I have dualboot with Libreelec and without changing any config the +/- volume buttons works fine in Kodi under LE8. As the fault is clearly visible in latest Flirc GUI i assume it has to with the windows driver. How to proceed? / Freelance
  4. Hello, First thank you for your amazing device, it's really useful, i just get 2 new pieces :) This bug : is about a missing key, i need to use the F23 keyboard key but it's not available on the firmware, i tried v3, and v3.8 Sony Playstation 3 : Here is the keyboard command to simulate the PS Home button for the PS3 : "CTRL + Win + F23" (F23 alone may work) Sony Playstation 4 : For the PS4 there is no problem because the PS button could be simulated by the "pause" button. Infos : The "F23" keyboard key = 72(HEX) HID = 114(Decimal) HID = 134 Key code Theoretical Commands : Normally to setup/record this we should use the commands "flirc_utils record_api 9 114" or "flirc_utils record_api 0 114" or "flirc_utils record f23" But the key F23 (114 Decimal/72 Hex) is not present in the firmware the first and second command pass but when executed it does not send the F23 key, and the third command does not work because the F23 key is not on the list... i even tried key like F15 (which is present on the virtual keyboard) just to try if it work and the key is not sent too after calling the command through IR. Request : Can you please add the F23 key to your next firmware version, it would be awesome and make you product really better because we could then use the PS button. Also this would be a big selling point for people that want to use it with a PS3 Thanks a lot for your consideration.
  5. Does anyone have a CFG that they can post for an Android TV Box? I just bought the Xiaomi Mi box and a Harmony 650 remote and the BACK and HOME keys do not work. Thanks
  6. I don't know if I'm doing something (or have done something) wrong or if my Flirc device is simply defective. I've looked at a bunch of the FAQs and various Forum posts and found lots of semi-relevant stuff, but no clear answers to my Flirc problem(s), so I decided it was best to start a new topic and explain things from the beginning... I just bought a Flirc-USB to use with a HarmonyOne remote and a FireTV box. As I understood (or misunderstood?) the Flirc website, the Flirc-USB should work straight out of package for my setup (w/no Flirc custom programming) by setting up Harmony Device using its programming tool, choosing Flirc under Media Center, and thennaming it Kodi or XBMC (not clear if name choice is even important). However, when I loaded the new programming into the HarmonyOne and tried to control FireTV, nothing would happen. I next tried using the Flirc GUI (v1.4.4) on Windows 7 Pro/64-bit. After fighting through some of the problems others have also had with getting things the GUI up and running (such as keyboard and mouse going dead), the GUI seems to communicate with the Flirc-USB because it understands when the Flirc is plugged into a USB port and – using Force FW Upgrade under File>Advanced – it claimed to upgrade the Flirc's firmware from version 3.6 to 3.8. (I should mention that along the way, I also tried some of the stuff above and below on a Windows 10 computer.) Yet, when I tried to program a key, the GUI gave no indication that programming was working... the selected key just kept flashing after I pressed a button on the remote. I tried different keys and different remote buttons (even under different Controllers choices) and none gave any feedback to indicate that programming was working. When I'd re-click the key on the GUI with my mouse (or choose a different key), it would say "Recording stopped," but there was certainly no visual feedback to show it was seeing the button-presses on the remote. Then (not thinking it might be a destructive step) I decided I'd better erase anything I'd done and start over, so I used File>Clear Configuration. It wasn't until then that I started wondering "maybe the GUI isn't designed to provide feedback that a button has been pressed?" If that was the case, perhaps programming actually was working? I tried to test that possibility by... saving a configuration file, programming a few more keys (or at least trying to),saving a second configuration file, and thencomparing the two files (in a couple of different ways). There was no difference between the two files and both were only 5-bytes long. When I saw how small the files were, I realized the Clear Configuration I'd done might have been destructive and that the built in Controller profiles might be gone. So, QUESTION#1 is do I need to do something to restore the Flirc to factory defaults? Even if Clear Configuration was destructive, the programming of keys using the GUI doesn't seem to be doing anything, so something very basic seems to be wrong. QUESTION#2a: What is the correct behavior of Flirc programming GUI: Should I be able to see visual feedback when I press remote button? QUESTION#2b: If there isn't visual feedback, what's the easiest or most definitive way to tell if it's working? QUESTION#3: How can I best test if my Flirc-USB is defective? And, the main question, of course, is where can I find the most complete guidance for a Flirc novice on getting up and running with the combination of hardware I described?
  7. I am brand new to this forum and have not read any postings of yet but wanted to share my experience using the Flirc with the Fire TV and Harmony 650. Some time ago I purchased an Amazon Fire TV and Flirc USB primarily to use with the Playstation Vue service. While I was very familiar with the Harmony 650 there were no instructions with the Flirc so it was an exercise in discovery to figure out how to program the remote to work with it. When adding a device to the Harmony remote you need to give it a brand and then a model number. After some experimentation, I learned that I needed to enter a brand of "Flirc" and a model number of "Fire TV". Once I programmed my activities and customized my buttons and screens all was good! A couple weeks later I purchased another Amazon Fire TV and Flirc. I went through the same procedures but found that everything worked except the "Home" button. I then tried using the "problem remote" with the older Fire TV and it worked fine. I then put the new Flirc in the older Fire TV and it would not recognize the "Home" button! I downloaded and installed the Flirc software on my computer and looked for a firmware update. Buried under Advanced in the Flirc software I found the option to force a firmware update. I noted that both Flircs were at firmware version 3.6. I updated the new Flirc to 3.8 and the "Home" button worked! I then updated the older Flirc for good measure. Hope this helped someone!
  8. Hi I want to run a .sh script using my harmony remote. My set up is a Kodi Openelec media centre and Humax freesat box connected through an HDMI matrix to an LG tv and Optoma projector. Kodi is running on a RPi 3 with a USB Flirc. All is well and everything is (pretty much) under control. Now I want more! Now I want to be able to run .sh scripts on the RPi 3 when I press a button on the remote. The reason for this is I've lifted some scripts from an old openremote2 install and can use the GPIO to activate a circuit on a RC remote that controls lights and projector screen. I've googled loads and got myself totally confused. I've read about flirc_util but have been unable to get this working on the openelec install. Any pointers? thanks
  9. Hi all, I have just received my USB Flirc and I would like to edit some of the keys in the Kodi profile. So when I select one key of this profile (eg: "Toggle subtittles"), a message pop up saying <press the button to be paired with 'CC'>. So I press a button of my Harmony remote... and nothing happens. Flirc does not seem to recognize de commands coming from the Harmony remote. But if I take a standar RC197 remote, I can customize any key that I want... Am I missing something? Thanks all PS: sorry for my poor English
  10. EDIT FIXED : So I thought this through and with the original Media Center Remote I bought previously (luckily never lost it) I realized I needed to click the learn keys on the flirc software then select the button on the MCE remote I wanted to map... THEN go into Logitech software, learn function and zap that to my Harmony 650 remote.. It WORKS.. now my green button on harmony starts kodi And blue button on harmony performs the forward slash or backward slash to reduce kodi full screen. NICE. Hi, I'm struggling to find out how to map the Win+4 key to my Harmony 650 Remote so I can start Kodi from an unused button on my remote. How in the h*ll do you do this LOL. Can someone point me to a tutorial or better a youtube video. My lord it must have been done before LOL....
  11. Hey guys, loving flirc so far. I've been setting up my HTPC and I've got a Harmony Home Control remote that I've been using. One of the nice features with this remote is the long press option. I've tried mapping my 'Exit' button on the remote to do two different functions on short vs. long press but every time I try to map both I get an error that the button already exists. Does flirc support that at all, or am I stuck not being able to use a long press option? Thanks everyone. Edit: It looks like other buttons work with long press, but the exit one doesn't. I probably set up something incorrectly
  12. I just received my flirc yesterday. I have an Origin PC with windows 10 and Kodi installed. Going through all of the set up steps, I could not get past the key mapping. For some reason, something keeps sending a "1" command. The "1" on the mapping page kept going green. I tried to save a configuration, and in the file name, it would automatically have "111111111" in the file name. I would delete them, and they would appear, one by one. I took my harmony remote 30 feet away, and into a kitchen drawer with pots and pans, and the "1"'s would continue. I wanted to see if it was the harmony, and it wasn't. I don't have any other remote in the room. If I unplug the Flirc, it stops. Plug it back in, and it continues. I went started Kodi, and something was sending commands, as it selected Videos, TV Shows, Movies, Music, Settings, and Back to Videos, TV Shows ..., and would not stop. I unplugged my Logitech keyboard, and it still kept on going. I was able to upgrade the firmware on the Flirc from 3.6 to 3.7. Is my Flirc defective? Any thoughts?
  13. Hi all, I seem to have a problem with the built in Kodi profile of Flirc and Logitech Harmony Ultimate Remote. I added flirc as a device to MyHarmony software, mapped the "Page Up" and "Page Down" commands to the respective remote buttons, but they don't seem to work. All the other default commands seem to work fine, so it seems that only these two commands are not correctly learned in the Kodi profile. Can somebody please help me out with a way to correctly add / alter these two commands to the Kodi profile?
  14. Hi the FLIRC will work on windows 10 ? because i try different's Control Remotes IR unbranded that only supports to Windows 7 but still i try on W10 , and this controls don't work some times disconnect at random or go to sleep etc many problems... The FLIRC come with a software to create profiles for programs or learning from keys from remote control. With this remote will work : Logitech Harmony 700 or 650?
  15. Hi everyone, First off, best wishes for 2016! I recently purchased a Streacom case and a Flirc SE addon card, to use with my Logitech Harmony Ultimate. In the Harmony software I set up a Flirc device with Kodi as the model. At first, the PC wouldn't start, but then I found that the command Logitech had added automatically ("Shutdown PC") was actually the proper command to turn on the PC. I switched the power settings in the Harmony software and now the remote can start the PC. However, I've been unable to use the remote to shutdown the PC, the computer is simply not responding. It is running Windows 7 and the "what happens when I press the power button" is set to the default "shutdown". I tried recording the power button using the commandline and flirc_util, but this breaks something, the PC will no longer start up. Any ideas? A second issue I'm having is that the power button on the remote now starts two PCs. Is there a way to differentiate between the two computers? The second computer has an IMON display/IR receiver. Any help is appreciated.
  16. I'm using a Harmony 900 to control a FireTV (1st gen, gaming edition). Using the Flirc/FireTV device profile in Harmony all the standard FireTV keys work fine. However, it's annoying to have to use the menu key to access the 5-9 digits when entering the Amazon PIN, so I decided to try getting the numeric keys on the Harmony to send numbers as if it is a keyboard. Now when I press any of these keys on the Harmony remote, the FireTV interprets them all as "0." (Verified through the "view PIN" option on the FireTV.) Here are the steps I took to get where I am: Since the Harmony Flirc/FireTV device profile doesn't have a bunch of extra commands, I added an MCE Keyboard device profile and added it to my "Watch FireTV" activity in the Harmony setup.I then mapped each of the 0-9 buttons on the Harmony to the corresponding commands from the MCE Keyboard device profile, and updated the remote with this setup.I used the FireTV Controller in Flirc to map the standard FireTV keys (using the FireTV "device" on the Harmony), then used the Full Keyboard controller in Flirc to add the numbers (using the MCE Keyboard device on the Harmony).*After pugging the Flirc back into the FireTV and trying a purchase, I got an "incorrect pin" error. I used the "View PIN" option to see that all my numeric keys were being interpreted as "0".*While programming the number keys in Flirc, I kept getting errors that the key was already in use. The only way it would take the number was to erase the key just before programming it. This happened even when I did a firmware overwrite and cleared the Flirc configuration. Should I be using a different device profile or other configuration in the Harmony software? Should I be using a different controller or different method to program the number keys in Flirc?
  17. Not to be a wiseguy....but what is the fascination with these really, really expensive Harmony remotes? Unless I'm really missing out on something, why would you want to pay that much for a remote? The beauty of these FLIRCs is that you can use just about any remote sucessfully.... My favorite Kodi remote is a "garage sale special" that I paid less than $5 for. Like I said, I don't mean to ask stupid questions (If I'm really missing the boat on this) but can anyone tell me what the big deal is?
  18. Trying to set up my Harmony Ultimate remote for optimal use with my Alienware Alpha. Where I'm stumbling is creating an easy way to launch/switch between applications with customized buttons/settings for each. Here's my setup: PC: Alienware Alpha Remotes: Harmony Ultimate / Hub / Smart Keyboard Apps: Plex Media Player, Kodi, Steam I've figured out how to launch apps using keyboard shortcuts, but they don't work when in another app. So I'd either need to be working from the desktop or somehow makes the keyboard commands universal. Ideally I think how I'd like to set it up is to have unique "activities" for each app ("Watch Plex", "Watch Kodi" etc.) that launch the app and close it upon turning off or switching activities. I have the flirc but haven't figured out how its commands can be made app-specific. I would need to do this because these apps have different keymaps, correct? It seems to me like flirc is more geared towards "dumb" remotes with buttons only, whereas I can program commands with the Harmony. Is that true? Is Eventghost or Intelliremote the answer? I'd previously used RemoteBuddy on my Mac and it worked flawlessly - these don't seem nearly as user friendly. Is there a tutorial somewhere for what I'm looking for??
  19. Hi all .... So .. i'm new to FLIRC .. but not new to HTPCs (and building PCs in general) .. i've also read a lot about FLIRC. Anyway .. i'm changing my current HTPC setup, but am keeping my streacom case - i've ordered an FLIRC-SE which will be replacing streacom's IR header ... one very important feature for me is the ability to power on the PC via remote (specifically a harmony ultimate & hub). So - having read quite a bit on FLIRC i was planning the following: mobo to have USB power on stand by enabledupgrade FLIRC-SE to latest fw and make sure internal profiles are enabledadd FLIRC/KODI device to harmonySo ... in theory that should already give me 99% of functionality (right?!) ... what i'm not sure on is powering on - the FLIRC/KODI profile doesn't seem to include a PowerON command (PowerOFF is present) ... do I need to program a PowerON button myself? If I understood correctly - if I don't do that any IR signal will turn the PC on ... or is it any button from FLIRC/KODI profile? That might be acceptable. Cheers all!
  20. Hi Guys, I have just started to use my Intel NUC again with Openelec. I have upgraded the firmware from 1.0 to the latest on my Flirc and i have the latest Openelec installed on my NUC. I have a Logitech harmony touch remote and i have loaded the Flirc device onto it. When i manually boot up the NIC, it boots into Openelec and i can use the harmony remote without issues to navigate around the GUI. Is there a way for me to use the power button on the harmony touch remote to have it put openelec into shut-down mode and then proceed to turn off my tv and amp? For the moment i cant see a way to set the power button on the harmony remote via their GUI to shut-down/suspend the NUC when i press the power button to turn things off, it just leaves the NUC running. I would like to also see if there is a way when i start up the harmony task to watch tv using the NUC to un-suspend/boot up openelec so its ready to go. Has anyone manages to successfully get this set-up and working with the above combination? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  21. Hello everybody, I´m new to this forum and I hope this is the correct question in the correct forum/section. I need some help in detail. Generally, My Harmony 650 works fine with Kodi/OSMC. My Flirc Firmware ist up to date. As I had some not-so-good-experiences with programming another remote-Crontroll (Hauppauge), I cleared all programmings in the flirc-SW. In the harmony software I chose Flirc as manufacturer and XBMC as Device. In general, my harmony rc works fine with that, except of two buttons: "volume down" and "info" don´t do anything, volume up and mute work fine! So I went to the myharmony-software and wanted to reprogram this vol. down button under "buttons". As I saw, that vol. down was assigned correctly, I didn´t change anything. Then I went to the flirc - sw and programmed the vol. down button. But it did not help. Does anybody have an advice for me? Thanks in advance! urmel
  22. I recently replaced my Harmony One with a Harmony Hub and the Smart Control. Harmony One was working fine with Flirc but the Harmony Hub is not. Left Direction is not working at all and the other buttons is working every second press, sometimes jumping 2 times. Has anyone successfully used Flirc with the Harmony Hub and at what settings for Flirc and the Harmony device profile?
  23. I have a Harmony Touch remote that is set up following the FAQ for harmony remotes here. I have a flirc updated to firmware v3. I cannot get the remote to do any actions at all in XBMC. I have gone into the actions on the harmony remote software and verified that the remote buttons are doing the XBMC actions that I desire but when I use them there is no response. I can go into the Flirc software, full keyboard and learn keys which it says are successfully learned from the remote so I believe the flirc is functional. It can obviously receive signals from the remote. I can verify that the signals are correct via a bluetooth keyboard. Yet when I use the remote buttons nothing happens. I have the XBMC setting selected that remote sends keyboard signals. I have looked around online but can find nothing that actually gets flirc to work. Any help is appreciated.
  24. Hi There, After struggling with CEC adapters and various LIRC configurations, I bought a FLIRC for my parents to use with their MythTV setup. Set up is a Mythbuntu HTPC, Logitech Harmony One, FLIRC, TV etc etc I live overseas, so I sent them instructions on what to do (and set up the Harmony profile online for them so they just had to update it). I used the Computer > HTPC > FLIRC > XBMC Harmony Profile, and mapped things that MythTV doesn't use (like switching zoom level, switching subtitles etc) for some more MythTV like functions (PIP, PIP control/swap, aspect ratio, switch tuner etc). I can't remember exactly what I used, but it won't matter for your setup. The parents set up their FLIRC with their Windows 7 PC, using full keyboard mode. I sent them a subset of the key map found in the MythTV wiki, with a list of the Harmony buttons they should program for each key. They then unplugged the FLIRC and plugged it into the Mythbuntu PC, and reported back that it was working great! Good news for them (and less troubleshooting for me). The FLIRC seems like a great product - I see there are a few questions about which Harmony profile to use on the forum - I would recommend using the XBMC one, and customising the buttons to your own individual needs, this gave a good result. Cheers, Andrew
  25. First off I love Flirc! Used it for months with a Mac Mini XBMC setup I had going. However I recently switched to using a Harmony Ultimate Remote and an Amazon Fire TV. At first I couldn't get it to stop sending double keystrokes when it came to navigating. I found using the full keyboard profile INSTEAD of the Amazon Fire TV profile (along with a few other settings) solved this. However I'm still having some difficulty getting everything to function properly. I would say 90% of the time the Flirc doesn't recognize "short" presses from my Harmony remote. It does register when I hold down the button for a longer period of time, but it's kind of annoying to have to do it that way. Note that this only applies to non-navigation keys. I've tried messing with the inter-key delay on both remotes but maybe I just haven't found the "sweet" spot. Currently I believe my harmony is set to .1 and the Flirc is set to 3 Anyone had these issues?!
