  1. FLIRC USB Firmware v4.1.1. Remote is an Acoustic Research ARRS05G. Using the Kodi profile. OS is Ubuntu LTS 16.04: matt@host:~$ cat /etc/os-release NAME="Ubuntu" VERSION="16.04.2 LTS (Xenial Xerus)" ID=ubuntu ID_LIKE=debian PRETTY_NAME="Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS" VERSION_ID="16.04" HOME_URL="http://www.ubuntu.com/" SUPPORT_URL="http://help.ubuntu.com/" BUG_REPORT_URL="http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/" VERSION_CODENAME=xenial UBUNTU_CODENAME=xenial matt@host:~$ cat /etc/debian_version stretch/sid Whenever I press a button on the remote, I'd say there's maybe a 20% chance it is recognized. In other words, it seems most button presses are ignored. This is with the FLIRC USB device plugged into the front of the PC, and me standing right in front of it, with the remote only a few inches away. Using a (wired) USB keyboard, all button presses work immediately as expected. I'm using Flirc v2.5.1, from Deb package flirc_2.5.1-1_amd64.deb (md5sum: 4ac86479eae26df57a676e9674bb699e). Simply running Flirc and then exiting prints this out to the console: matt@host:~$ Flirc Can't load 'test.ini' 00: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ............ 00: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ............ 00: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ............ 00: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ............ 00: ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ff ............ 2. I use Kodi 17.3 on a Pi2 with FLIRC2. I setup FLRIC with your software and used the KODI keymap for this. I used each button there. But I don't think the map is correct. I check with my editor on the PC what key's does FLIRC produce on some buttons. e.g. power button is 'ä' (in KODIS default keymaping it is 'S') volume down is 'ß' (in KODIS default keymaping it is '-') volume up is '´' (in KODIS default keymaping it is '+') This are just three of the buttons not working in my KODI. Maybe I missunderstand something. Can you help me with that? I know I could use the full-keyboard-mapping of the FLIRC software to fix this. But the KODI-mapping should work, too.
  3. Hey all, i am hoping you can help me with something. I recently had to reset my Win 10 HTPC and since then when I am in KODI using my Harmony 650 the play & pause button no longer work. I have to use the center "Select" or "OK" button on my remote to bring up the menu at the bottom of the video where I can play/plause by hitting "OK" again on my remote. Anyone have any advice why the play/pause would stop working? I am on the most recent stable build of KODI, have the most recent firmware for FLIRC and have tried re-syncing my remote with the harmony software using the XBMC profile in the harmony software. Also I have tried mapping the play/pause key in the FLIRC software to the play/pause buttons but it says that they already exist so I am at a loss as to what to try now. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
  4. Hi There, As a Belgian guy I'm using subtitles and often look for dutch audio when starting a animation movie for children.. In the userdata/keymaps/keyboard.xml I have following <FullscreenVideo> <keyboard> .... <d>ActivateWindow(subtitlesearch)</d> <d mod="longpress">Subtitledelay</d> <e>ActivateWindow(osdaudiosettings)</e> <e mod="longpress">NextSubtitle</e> .... </Fullscreen> The Kodi Controller lacks some extra buttons, is there a way to add some extra Is there a way to get a readable mapping xml ( so I know what I have done) . Kind Regards Guy
  5. I have the Flirc Streacom edition plugged into my media server. Was updating a few things today, small SSD drive and decided to give Ubuntu a try, but, nothing seemed to work... uninstalling LibreOffice fails, updates wouldn't work, couldn't get the Flirc install to work either. Never used Ubuntu/Linux before, but I know how to follow directions... just odd errors and such. Finally gave up, and tried OpenEllec instead. Installed, booted into KODI, no problem, but couldn't figure out how to get to the OS to install Flirc. Figured, if what I read was true, I could just hook up the old drive, boot into Win7x64, install and setup Flirc with that, because from what I read, the chip on the Flirc itself saves the keypress info. But, I'm still having issues. I'm still in Win7. Until it's working perfect with Kodi I don't want to swap the drives around. I setup the remote using Kodi under controllers, and surprised at how many keys that I use daily are missing. I guess I'll have to use full keyboard and in Kodi remap the key functions from there? Main 2 issues though are 1) Every other time I go into Kodi, one or two buttons don't work. I go back to the Flirc setup screen, and most buttons say 'button already exists' but always one or two that aren't setup even though I had them setup and working. It seems that after a restart, or just over time I'm not certain, the Flirc forgets a few buttons. Since not a USB Flirc, I can't fix that easily once I switch drives around if it forgets again. 2) Power off/on doesn't work. I mapped the PWR button on my remote (Sony RM-VZ320) and saved... but when I click the button while the system is on, I get a Windows 'ding' noise. When the system is powered off, there is a (very) bright blue LED on the board that remains on, so getting power, but when I click PWR, nothing happens at all. Case PWR button works fine. Any ideas? I need to get the power on/off working, and make sure that once programmed, Flirc doesn't keep forgetting random buttons.
  6. I'm trying to use a Philips DVD player remote. First, recording buttons failed often, but by repeating the procedure I finally managed to record all buttons. I read this means the frequency is non-standard? Second, when using it the keypresses pretty much give random results. I. e. pressing arrow down moves left instead, so on. I'm ready to buy an another remote, can anybody point me to a remote on eBay that works?
  7. First, I want to say, I have covered the issue of no power to the flirc to be able to boot... I have a media pi+ case (http://sb-components.co.uk/mediapi.html or https://www.amazon.com/Limited-Raspberry-MEDIAPI-integrated-Remote/dp/B00SEGYY7C) I am not using the onboard IR that came with it, as there's no power to it when the raspberry pi shutsdown. So I bought a flirc SE, and I have a couple adapter cables plugged in that allowed me to have the flirc se powered off of the incoming power, and it also splits to power raspbery pi (internal usb cable that came with FLIRC SE going to adapter cable that gives me standard usb plug, going into female usb plug that splits into 1 male, 1 female micro usb) so I have power going to everything, My question is, how do I set the IR remote to "boot" or wake from sleep or wake from hibernate? also, I am assuming I will need to connect one of the power switch pin pairs up to the raspberry pi for the actual boot command to work, Can I connect it to the run pin holes as that does a reset? sorry for the rather noobish question, I am trying to teach myself this stuff as much as possible, I have searched first, and did not see anything that covered this, so if it is covered elsewhere, could you please direct me to it? thanks in advance for any information or guidance anyone is able to give.
  8. Hi I'm using a FTV with Flirc, a Harmony and Kodi. I'm trying to get it setup so that the controls in Kodi match the controls in Fire TV. At present the directions and Enter work but none of the others like fast forward do. If I had the keyboard shortcuts used by the Fire TV for ff/rw/back/playpause/menu I could modify the keyboard.xml in kodi to use those keys for the same functions and then set flirc to them.
  9. Prior to installing Kodi, FireTV must enable developer section stuff. One of the options is USB Debugging mode, not required, but you may inadvertently turned it ON. You need to turn that OFF for Flicr to work with the FIreTV. This was a bone head mistake I did that took me a moment or two to figure out. Once that is disabled, viola!
  10. Want to set up Nvidia Shield running Kodi with a Harmony 900. I set this up with the Harmony software. Checking the 'customize buttons' option after I see presets for the Shield as well as my receiver for volume. Don't see a single thing for the Flirc even though it says here https://flirc.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/200712568-Logitech-Harmony-Remotes that "You should be good to go - you don't need to program buttons using the Flirc gui, we've done that for you." Even after setting commands in the customize buttons on the Harmony software and I plug the Flirc in my Shield it does nothing. Nothing is programmed. If I run the Flirc software and try to manually program buttons pressing a button on my Harmony does nothing. I tried other 'IR' remotes and it worked. Is this because the Harmony is an RF remote? If so how am I supposed to program it? Why wasn't it programmed automatically? All software for Harmony and Flirc is up to date? Can someone help me out with a step by step? This should have been an effortless install but I've already wasted at least an hour. Thanks.
  11. Hello all, I'm trying to use two flirc with a single remote (harmony). I have one flirc setup via harmony as a media center pc -> flirc kodi device. The flirc for that harmony profile is using built in profile of kodi via flirc software. The second flirc is setup in harmony as media center pc -> flirc firetv and is not using built in profiles in flirc software but is setup as fire tv remote. I can control each device but the actions are duplicated. So when I navigate in the fire tv menu I'm also navigating the kodi box. How does one avoid the IR cross talk? In another thread it was suggested to setup a random device for the other flirc but choosing media center remote as fire tv control device is almost unusable and can't navigate the fire tv at all.
  12. In searching for a way to get Kodi running on my XBox One, I ran across this site: https://kinkeadtech.com/xbox-one-xbmc-kodi-live-tv-oneguide-integration/ I have not had a chance to play around with this yet. However the author uses Eventghost and a MCE IR dongle. That combination is what FLIRC makes unnecessary. Much of the author's guide is dedicated to getting that combination to work correctly with the XBone. I'm wondering if anyone here has played around with this sort of a setup using FLIRC, and gotten it to work. I may try to find some time this week to play with this, but am pretty busy for the next several weeks. This looks very promising though! EDIT changed title/subject K.
  13. Hello. I bought 2 FLIRCs and popped one into my Kodi box and installed the software. When programming the keys the FLIRC software works fine, but then when I'm done, it has no effect on Kodi or the operating system. Please advise.
  14. Ok, thanks to the hifi-remote.com forum, I have multiple One4All URC-8910s all customized via JP1 for my living room and bedroom (TV, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Yamaha receiver, Projector, etc.). But I want to replace my aging first generation Apple TVs (running XBMC on Crystalbuntu) with modern Chromeboxes (running Kodi on Kodibuntu). At first I just plugged in my Ortek IR receiver and used the JP1 profile, but as anyone who has done that knows, there are some keys that don't map correctly. The "Info" key only works as a right-click, etc. So I bought a FLIRC, and programmed it, and I got it to work for every key and function I needed. Huzzzah! Except, when I hold the arrow keys down, they don't repeat to scroll through selections (e.g. Movies or TV episodes). I tried the inter-key delay in FLIRC, every setting from 0-6, and none of it made a difference. Then I tried programming it with different codes than the Ortek (the original RCA DVD code that the Xbox used, a basic Panasonic VCR code since I don't have any other devices from that brand), and while they would repeat for a scroll, either it was unreliable, or it caused issues with other keys not sending every time, or the opposite and other keys sent a double press too quickly. As I said, the Ortek code worked great except for the non key repeat. I know there are issues with repeat and non-repeat, but has anyone fixed this for the Ortek (or have a good known remote for using to control Kodi under Kodibuntu/Ubuntu)? Thanks for any help. (Feel free to move this post to a different subforum if this isn't the correct one.)
  15. Hi i have successfully added Flirc Kodi as a device to my Harmony 1100. However the back command does not work and is only registering as an enter command? All direction keys work fine along with enter. Advice please.
  16. I just received my flirc yesterday. I have an Origin PC with windows 10 and Kodi installed. Going through all of the set up steps, I could not get past the key mapping. For some reason, something keeps sending a "1" command. The "1" on the mapping page kept going green. I tried to save a configuration, and in the file name, it would automatically have "111111111" in the file name. I would delete them, and they would appear, one by one. I took my harmony remote 30 feet away, and into a kitchen drawer with pots and pans, and the "1"'s would continue. I wanted to see if it was the harmony, and it wasn't. I don't have any other remote in the room. If I unplug the Flirc, it stops. Plug it back in, and it continues. I went started Kodi, and something was sending commands, as it selected Videos, TV Shows, Movies, Music, Settings, and Back to Videos, TV Shows ..., and would not stop. I unplugged my Logitech keyboard, and it still kept on going. I was able to upgrade the firmware on the Flirc from 3.6 to 3.7. Is my Flirc defective? Any thoughts?
  17. Hello I got a Flirc recently and I setup my Inteset INT- 422 remote control using Full Keyboard controller under Flirc GUI v1.4.0 with firmware v3.7 on Windows 8.1 x64 to use with Kodi 15.2 I've been trying to use long press in different ways but non of them were successful or sometimes it would send both key actions at the same time. So I'm here to ask if the following case scenarios are possible at all, and if so how? what third party software will I need? 1. Use the DISPLAY button in my remote to: Single press: open global search in Kodi (using "RunScript(script.globalsearch)" in keyboard.xml) Long press: open windows search panel (Win+q) I would like the remote to interact with widows to open the start screen, search panel, etc apart of Kodi. 2. Use the SQUARE button at the bottom of my remote to: Single press: run Update Library (using "UpdateLibrary(video,,true)" in keyboard.xml) Long press: run Clean Library (using "CleanLibrary(video, true)" in keyboard. xml) Right now I have set Clean Library and Update Library to different specific buttons and they work as expected BUT I would like to extend the usability of my remote by re-using the buttons so I can have 2 key actions in each button of my remote. If you have similar case scenarios working in you setup PLEASE share how to do it. I've already tried different ways but maybe I'm missing something or a third party software. This is my remote: T.I.A (Thanks In Advance)
  18. Hi, to resolve my problems with FLIRC and recording of my IR-codes from the Toshiba PC 'Qosmio' IR I tried every option from the 'Advanced' menu item but it keeps in "not working" state. E.g. the error message 'button already exists' occurs very often and even if not the recorded commands does not work at all or does not work as expected. Therefore I cannot use my Windows 7 media center HTPC together with FLIRC and my existing setup! I have read a lot of problem reports in this forum and my conclusion is: "Use any remote with your media center" is marketing bullshit. Sorry about my clear words but I'm very disappointed about this WRONG advertising. Why? Because also my IR keyboard "LiteOn SK-7100" shows the same negative result and for around 40 EUR (Amazon.de, approx. twice the price as in the US) FLIRC is a bad experience for me. One positive aspect I recognized: The "Flirc Kodi" device in the Logitech Harmony database works out of the box with my LINUX based Kodi HTPC. (This was only a cross-check if the FLIRC hardware is in general working.) For (e.g.) this use case you may get happy with FLIRC ... Michael P.S. I wrote this to inform other people which may have equal problems and not to get advices / help ...
  19. I use Flirc to control Kodi using a Logitech Harmony remote. I have read the articles on the Harmony remotes but I still need some help adding extra functions to the My Harmony profile. I understand how to add the extra functions but I do not want to just choose a button on another remote to generate codes, it might duplicate one of the existing codes and do something on another device. I have WinLirc up and running with an IR receiver/transmitter so I'd like to define the protocol/codes in the config file and use WinLirc to teach them to the My Harmony. Is there a list of codes and protocol (or better still the LIRC config file) that Flirc uses in the Logitech profiles so I can generate new codes that are consistent with what is used already?
  20. hi everyone, i am running kodi 15.2 on a win10 tronsmart ara x5. so, flirc (v. 1.3.6) came in quite handy .. but i have issues with 2 buttons: shutdown: doesn't do anythingfullscreen: actually minimizes my kodi into a windows window and back again to the fullscreen mode.. but does not get the streamed media to go on fullscreenis it me.. or is the win implementation not doing what it should?
  21. Trying to set up my Harmony Ultimate remote for optimal use with my Alienware Alpha. Where I'm stumbling is creating an easy way to launch/switch between applications with customized buttons/settings for each. Here's my setup: PC: Alienware Alpha Remotes: Harmony Ultimate / Hub / Smart Keyboard Apps: Plex Media Player, Kodi, Steam I've figured out how to launch apps using keyboard shortcuts, but they don't work when in another app. So I'd either need to be working from the desktop or somehow makes the keyboard commands universal. Ideally I think how I'd like to set it up is to have unique "activities" for each app ("Watch Plex", "Watch Kodi" etc.) that launch the app and close it upon turning off or switching activities. I have the flirc but haven't figured out how its commands can be made app-specific. I would need to do this because these apps have different keymaps, correct? It seems to me like flirc is more geared towards "dumb" remotes with buttons only, whereas I can program commands with the Harmony. Is that true? Is Eventghost or Intelliremote the answer? I'd previously used RemoteBuddy on my Mac and it worked flawlessly - these don't seem nearly as user friendly. Is there a tutorial somewhere for what I'm looking for??
  22. Hi all .... So .. i'm new to FLIRC .. but not new to HTPCs (and building PCs in general) .. i've also read a lot about FLIRC. Anyway .. i'm changing my current HTPC setup, but am keeping my streacom case - i've ordered an FLIRC-SE which will be replacing streacom's IR header ... one very important feature for me is the ability to power on the PC via remote (specifically a harmony ultimate & hub). So - having read quite a bit on FLIRC i was planning the following: mobo to have USB power on stand by enabledupgrade FLIRC-SE to latest fw and make sure internal profiles are enabledadd FLIRC/KODI device to harmonySo ... in theory that should already give me 99% of functionality (right?!) ... what i'm not sure on is powering on - the FLIRC/KODI profile doesn't seem to include a PowerON command (PowerOFF is present) ... do I need to program a PowerON button myself? If I understood correctly - if I don't do that any IR signal will turn the PC on ... or is it any button from FLIRC/KODI profile? That might be acceptable. Cheers all!
  23. If you have been wondering on how to make Kodi work with Flirc and Harmony remotes to automatically suspend without you having to call up the shutdown menu or be stuck with the other methods that limit suspend commands to the home screen of Kodi this is how to do it with Kodi v15 at time of writing. Thx to GoodOmens for the tip though his info is a little out of date now so this is a guide on how to do it all. Kodi/Openelec Go to system information and make a note of it's IP address Turn on SSH in Kodi services Harmony Software Devices Flirc Media Player Change Device Settings Power Settings I want to turn this device off when not in use I press the same button for on and off Add command and select PowerOff (if you have messed with poweroff before finding this guide choose the fix command and reset IR code for PowerOff) Sync remote Go to Flirc software Select file clear configuration Select full keyboard Select Ctrl+F12 (as Kodi wont respond to this at least not yet) Go to devices on Harmony remote and select Flirc media player then hit the power off key to map it to Ctrl+F12 (requires harmony with display screen or map power off to physical button) From Windows Download WinSCP Select SFTP Input Kodi IP address Username = root and password = openelec Once logged in select options\preferences\panels and tick the box for “show hidden files” Browse to /storage/.kodi/userdata/keymaps folder Create a file called remote.xml Copy and paste in the text below, then save (old floppy disk icon) <keymap> <global> <keyboard> <f12 mod="ctrl">XBMC.Suspend()</f12> </keyboard> </global> </keymap> Exit WinSCP Kodi/Openelec Reboot the system (required for new xml to take effect) Now if all goes well when using Harmony activities the system should go into suspend. If you've been wondering why not just use the stock Flirc/Kodi power off command combined with the Kodi settings\power saving changing it from shutdown to suspend, this doesn't work. If you go this path the system will always wake up when using any activity and not go into suspend, the stock power off command is bugged somehow like it's being sent multiple times.
  24. Hi, I have 2 Logitech Harmony remotes - a 650 and a 700. I use each to control several devices. My problem is using the Flirc dongle with my Raspberry Pi 2's running Kodi. In previous versions of the Flirc software for Windows, I used the XBMC (now Kodi) Controller and when I set up my remotes with the Harmony software, both Page Up and Page Down were mapped correctly and worked. Now they don't. I've tried both the Kodi and Windows Media Controllers from Flirc and cannot get Page Up/Page Down programmed on my remotes. I don't know how to "teach" my Harmony remotes these commands as I don't have Raspberry Pi remote to use. Does anyone have a link to an older version of the Flirc software for Windows? Maybe I can get it to work that way. Or, if anyone knows of another way to configure Flirc (and therefore my remotes) with these commands, please let me know. Your help would be greatly appreciated! Gracie
  25. Hello everybody, I´m new to this forum and I hope this is the correct question in the correct forum/section. I need some help in detail. Generally, My Harmony 650 works fine with Kodi/OSMC. My Flirc Firmware ist up to date. As I had some not-so-good-experiences with programming another remote-Crontroll (Hauppauge), I cleared all programmings in the flirc-SW. In the harmony software I chose Flirc as manufacturer and XBMC as Device. In general, my harmony rc works fine with that, except of two buttons: "volume down" and "info" don´t do anything, volume up and mute work fine! So I went to the myharmony-software and wanted to reprogram this vol. down button under "buttons". As I saw, that vol. down was assigned correctly, I didn´t change anything. Then I went to the flirc - sw and programmed the vol. down button. But it did not help. Does anybody have an advice for me? Thanks in advance! urmel
