  1. Hey guys, loving flirc so far. I've been setting up my HTPC and I've got a Harmony Home Control remote that I've been using. One of the nice features with this remote is the long press option. I've tried mapping my 'Exit' button on the remote to do two different functions on short vs. long press but every time I try to map both I get an error that the button already exists. Does flirc support that at all, or am I stuck not being able to use a long press option? Thanks everyone. Edit: It looks like other buttons work with long press, but the exit one doesn't. I probably set up something incorrectly
  2. I just received my flirc yesterday. I have an Origin PC with windows 10 and Kodi installed. Going through all of the set up steps, I could not get past the key mapping. For some reason, something keeps sending a "1" command. The "1" on the mapping page kept going green. I tried to save a configuration, and in the file name, it would automatically have "111111111" in the file name. I would delete them, and they would appear, one by one. I took my harmony remote 30 feet away, and into a kitchen drawer with pots and pans, and the "1"'s would continue. I wanted to see if it was the harmony, and it wasn't. I don't have any other remote in the room. If I unplug the Flirc, it stops. Plug it back in, and it continues. I went started Kodi, and something was sending commands, as it selected Videos, TV Shows, Movies, Music, Settings, and Back to Videos, TV Shows ..., and would not stop. I unplugged my Logitech keyboard, and it still kept on going. I was able to upgrade the firmware on the Flirc from 3.6 to 3.7. Is my Flirc defective? Any thoughts?
  3. Hi the FLIRC will work on windows 10 ? because i try different's Control Remotes IR unbranded that only supports to Windows 7 but still i try on W10 , and this controls don't work some times disconnect at random or go to sleep etc many problems... The FLIRC come with a software to create profiles for programs or learning from keys from remote control. With this remote will work : Logitech Harmony 700 or 650?
  4. Hi everyone, First off, best wishes for 2016! I recently purchased a Streacom case and a Flirc SE addon card, to use with my Logitech Harmony Ultimate. In the Harmony software I set up a Flirc device with Kodi as the model. At first, the PC wouldn't start, but then I found that the command Logitech had added automatically ("Shutdown PC") was actually the proper command to turn on the PC. I switched the power settings in the Harmony software and now the remote can start the PC. However, I've been unable to use the remote to shutdown the PC, the computer is simply not responding. It is running Windows 7 and the "what happens when I press the power button" is set to the default "shutdown". I tried recording the power button using the commandline and flirc_util, but this breaks something, the PC will no longer start up. Any ideas? A second issue I'm having is that the power button on the remote now starts two PCs. Is there a way to differentiate between the two computers? The second computer has an IMON display/IR receiver. Any help is appreciated.
  5. I'm using a Harmony 900 to control a FireTV (1st gen, gaming edition). Using the Flirc/FireTV device profile in Harmony all the standard FireTV keys work fine. However, it's annoying to have to use the menu key to access the 5-9 digits when entering the Amazon PIN, so I decided to try getting the numeric keys on the Harmony to send numbers as if it is a keyboard. Now when I press any of these keys on the Harmony remote, the FireTV interprets them all as "0." (Verified through the "view PIN" option on the FireTV.) Here are the steps I took to get where I am: Since the Harmony Flirc/FireTV device profile doesn't have a bunch of extra commands, I added an MCE Keyboard device profile and added it to my "Watch FireTV" activity in the Harmony setup.I then mapped each of the 0-9 buttons on the Harmony to the corresponding commands from the MCE Keyboard device profile, and updated the remote with this setup.I used the FireTV Controller in Flirc to map the standard FireTV keys (using the FireTV "device" on the Harmony), then used the Full Keyboard controller in Flirc to add the numbers (using the MCE Keyboard device on the Harmony).*After pugging the Flirc back into the FireTV and trying a purchase, I got an "incorrect pin" error. I used the "View PIN" option to see that all my numeric keys were being interpreted as "0".*While programming the number keys in Flirc, I kept getting errors that the key was already in use. The only way it would take the number was to erase the key just before programming it. This happened even when I did a firmware overwrite and cleared the Flirc configuration. Should I be using a different device profile or other configuration in the Harmony software? Should I be using a different controller or different method to program the number keys in Flirc?
  6. Trying to set up my Harmony Ultimate remote for optimal use with my Alienware Alpha. Where I'm stumbling is creating an easy way to launch/switch between applications with customized buttons/settings for each. Here's my setup: PC: Alienware Alpha Remotes: Harmony Ultimate / Hub / Smart Keyboard Apps: Plex Media Player, Kodi, Steam I've figured out how to launch apps using keyboard shortcuts, but they don't work when in another app. So I'd either need to be working from the desktop or somehow makes the keyboard commands universal. Ideally I think how I'd like to set it up is to have unique "activities" for each app ("Watch Plex", "Watch Kodi" etc.) that launch the app and close it upon turning off or switching activities. I have the flirc but haven't figured out how its commands can be made app-specific. I would need to do this because these apps have different keymaps, correct? It seems to me like flirc is more geared towards "dumb" remotes with buttons only, whereas I can program commands with the Harmony. Is that true? Is Eventghost or Intelliremote the answer? I'd previously used RemoteBuddy on my Mac and it worked flawlessly - these don't seem nearly as user friendly. Is there a tutorial somewhere for what I'm looking for??
  7. Hi all .... So .. i'm new to FLIRC .. but not new to HTPCs (and building PCs in general) .. i've also read a lot about FLIRC. Anyway .. i'm changing my current HTPC setup, but am keeping my streacom case - i've ordered an FLIRC-SE which will be replacing streacom's IR header ... one very important feature for me is the ability to power on the PC via remote (specifically a harmony ultimate & hub). So - having read quite a bit on FLIRC i was planning the following: mobo to have USB power on stand by enabledupgrade FLIRC-SE to latest fw and make sure internal profiles are enabledadd FLIRC/KODI device to harmonySo ... in theory that should already give me 99% of functionality (right?!) ... what i'm not sure on is powering on - the FLIRC/KODI profile doesn't seem to include a PowerON command (PowerOFF is present) ... do I need to program a PowerON button myself? If I understood correctly - if I don't do that any IR signal will turn the PC on ... or is it any button from FLIRC/KODI profile? That might be acceptable. Cheers all!
  8. If you have been wondering on how to make Kodi work with Flirc and Harmony remotes to automatically suspend without you having to call up the shutdown menu or be stuck with the other methods that limit suspend commands to the home screen of Kodi this is how to do it with Kodi v15 at time of writing. Thx to GoodOmens for the tip though his info is a little out of date now so this is a guide on how to do it all. Kodi/Openelec Go to system information and make a note of it's IP address Turn on SSH in Kodi services Harmony Software Devices Flirc Media Player Change Device Settings Power Settings I want to turn this device off when not in use I press the same button for on and off Add command and select PowerOff (if you have messed with poweroff before finding this guide choose the fix command and reset IR code for PowerOff) Sync remote Go to Flirc software Select file clear configuration Select full keyboard Select Ctrl+F12 (as Kodi wont respond to this at least not yet) Go to devices on Harmony remote and select Flirc media player then hit the power off key to map it to Ctrl+F12 (requires harmony with display screen or map power off to physical button) From Windows Download WinSCP Select SFTP Input Kodi IP address Username = root and password = openelec Once logged in select options\preferences\panels and tick the box for “show hidden files” Browse to /storage/.kodi/userdata/keymaps folder Create a file called remote.xml Copy and paste in the text below, then save (old floppy disk icon) <keymap> <global> <keyboard> <f12 mod="ctrl">XBMC.Suspend()</f12> </keyboard> </global> </keymap> Exit WinSCP Kodi/Openelec Reboot the system (required for new xml to take effect) Now if all goes well when using Harmony activities the system should go into suspend. If you've been wondering why not just use the stock Flirc/Kodi power off command combined with the Kodi settings\power saving changing it from shutdown to suspend, this doesn't work. If you go this path the system will always wake up when using any activity and not go into suspend, the stock power off command is bugged somehow like it's being sent multiple times.
  9. Hi Guys, I have just started to use my Intel NUC again with Openelec. I have upgraded the firmware from 1.0 to the latest on my Flirc and i have the latest Openelec installed on my NUC. I have a Logitech harmony touch remote and i have loaded the Flirc device onto it. When i manually boot up the NIC, it boots into Openelec and i can use the harmony remote without issues to navigate around the GUI. Is there a way for me to use the power button on the harmony touch remote to have it put openelec into shut-down mode and then proceed to turn off my tv and amp? For the moment i cant see a way to set the power button on the harmony remote via their GUI to shut-down/suspend the NUC when i press the power button to turn things off, it just leaves the NUC running. I would like to also see if there is a way when i start up the harmony task to watch tv using the NUC to un-suspend/boot up openelec so its ready to go. Has anyone manages to successfully get this set-up and working with the above combination? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  10. Hello everybody, I´m new to this forum and I hope this is the correct question in the correct forum/section. I need some help in detail. Generally, My Harmony 650 works fine with Kodi/OSMC. My Flirc Firmware ist up to date. As I had some not-so-good-experiences with programming another remote-Crontroll (Hauppauge), I cleared all programmings in the flirc-SW. In the harmony software I chose Flirc as manufacturer and XBMC as Device. In general, my harmony rc works fine with that, except of two buttons: "volume down" and "info" don´t do anything, volume up and mute work fine! So I went to the myharmony-software and wanted to reprogram this vol. down button under "buttons". As I saw, that vol. down was assigned correctly, I didn´t change anything. Then I went to the flirc - sw and programmed the vol. down button. But it did not help. Does anybody have an advice for me? Thanks in advance! urmel
  11. I recently replaced my Harmony One with a Harmony Hub and the Smart Control. Harmony One was working fine with Flirc but the Harmony Hub is not. Left Direction is not working at all and the other buttons is working every second press, sometimes jumping 2 times. Has anyone successfully used Flirc with the Harmony Hub and at what settings for Flirc and the Harmony device profile?
  12. Not to be a wiseguy....but what is the fascination with these really, really expensive Harmony remotes? Unless I'm really missing out on something, why would you want to pay that much for a remote? The beauty of these FLIRCs is that you can use just about any remote sucessfully.... My favorite Kodi remote is a "garage sale special" that I paid less than $5 for. Like I said, I don't mean to ask stupid questions (If I'm really missing the boat on this) but can anyone tell me what the big deal is?
  13. Hi all, I seem to have a problem with the built in Kodi profile of Flirc and Logitech Harmony Ultimate Remote. I added flirc as a device to MyHarmony software, mapped the "Page Up" and "Page Down" commands to the respective remote buttons, but they don't seem to work. All the other default commands seem to work fine, so it seems that only these two commands are not correctly learned in the Kodi profile. Can somebody please help me out with a way to correctly add / alter these two commands to the Kodi profile?
  14. First off I love Flirc! Used it for months with a Mac Mini XBMC setup I had going. However I recently switched to using a Harmony Ultimate Remote and an Amazon Fire TV. At first I couldn't get it to stop sending double keystrokes when it came to navigating. I found using the full keyboard profile INSTEAD of the Amazon Fire TV profile (along with a few other settings) solved this. However I'm still having some difficulty getting everything to function properly. I would say 90% of the time the Flirc doesn't recognize "short" presses from my Harmony remote. It does register when I hold down the button for a longer period of time, but it's kind of annoying to have to do it that way. Note that this only applies to non-navigation keys. I've tried messing with the inter-key delay on both remotes but maybe I just haven't found the "sweet" spot. Currently I believe my harmony is set to .1 and the Flirc is set to 3 Anyone had these issues?!
  15. Hi. I've currently got FLIRC firmware 3.6 and a Harmony 650. I notice that since updating the firmware on my FLIRC and my Harmony that sometimes I'll get buttons pressing twice when navigating in KODI. I've followed the suggestions here and here and it's improved but it still occurs sometimes. I'm wondering if there's a way I can increase the Inter-Key Delay setting beyond 6. I'm on Ubuntu 14.
  16. Hi all, suddenly my Flirc stopped working with harmony 650. I have been using Flirc with Fire TV for about a year and suddenly it stopped registering my key presses. I found out when I am very close to Flirc and push the button it works but only when really close, nearly next to it. Tried to reconfigure and what is strange learning the commands from 650 works with any range, I can point the remote to the ceiling and it still learns the command. This problem also happens when using windows I tested with notepad it registered the key presses only on close range. Nothing changed in my room no possible interferences, I think. Please advise. Thanks! flirc firmware v3 gui v1.3.6
  17. I have a Harmony Touch remote that is set up following the FAQ for harmony remotes here. I have a flirc updated to firmware v3. I cannot get the remote to do any actions at all in XBMC. I have gone into the actions on the harmony remote software and verified that the remote buttons are doing the XBMC actions that I desire but when I use them there is no response. I can go into the Flirc software, full keyboard and learn keys which it says are successfully learned from the remote so I believe the flirc is functional. It can obviously receive signals from the remote. I can verify that the signals are correct via a bluetooth keyboard. Yet when I use the remote buttons nothing happens. I have the XBMC setting selected that remote sends keyboard signals. I have looked around online but can find nothing that actually gets flirc to work. Any help is appreciated.
  18. I've had the remote for about a week now and FLIRC for about 4 days. I've setup all my commands in FLIRC and in EventGhost they all work perfectly fine. My problem is the amount of lag in Kodi. For instance if I press the right arrow button it will take about 1 or 2 seconds to respond on screen. I'm about 7 feet away from the FLIRC dongle and its directly in front of me so I know its not an interference error. I have Inter-key and Inter-Device on my Harmony both set to 0 and Inter-key on FLIRC set to 0 as well. I have tried the advancedconfig.xml in Kodi to fix the lag but with no luck. FLIRC firmware is 3.3 and Harmony firmware is up to date as well. Any fix for this?
  19. Hi, i just wanted to say thank you. Got my flirc yesterday for my streacom htpc and i think it is awesome, but i only had some hours to play with it until now. Before i start questioning i'm reading through the forum, new IR-Device and new remote (harmony touch) is damn confusing. My first impression is that this is an XBMC thing, good for me using mediaportal. :( I'm switching over from the libCEC adapter because there are some features missing like startig programs and powering on both, tv and pc). That's it! :D Will head over again when done with the setup or completly distracted. ;) greetz loki
  20. A few moths ago, I purchased Flirc and programmed it on my windows machine using the Panasonic TV profile as posted at Plugged the Flicr dongle into my XBMCBUNTU machine and everything worked great. Best gadget I have ever purchased. I have since had to reinstall XBMC on that machine and instead of using XBMCBUNTU like I originally did, I installed Ubuntu and added the xbmc packages. I was expecting to just plug the Flicr dongle in and it would work just like before since the programming is contained on the dongle, but it now does nothing. The remote is sending the command(based on the feedback indicator on the remote), but I get no response on the XBMC machine. I did the obvious things: 1. Add 'deb http://apt.flirc.tv/arch/i386 binary/' to /etc/apt/sources.list 2. apt-get update 3. apt-get install flirc Enabled the 'remote sends keyboard commands' option within the XBMC configuration. Was there some other step that I had forgotten or overlooked that was part of the XBMCBuntu install that would be missing by installing the full OS? I have ran out of ideas of what to check, where to look, etc Any suggestions?
  21. I'm using Openelec on a Raspberry Pi B+ and recently bought a Logitech Harmony to control it. I'm trusting the embedded profile, and it seems to work very well. After a while though the volume down key or command (and ONLY this one, so far) stops working. Unplugging and replugging the FLIRC doesn't help, only a complete reboot of the RPi will let it work again. It's not a tremendous hassle but it's somehow distressing. Anyone got any clue on this? Is it a firmware bug?
  22. Hello, I'm running Windows 8.1, XBMC Gotham 13.2. I have been using using my Flirc with a One-For-All Simple 3 remote (URC 6430) on Gotham quite successfully for about 3-4 months. When I first got it, I did have some problems with key delay, but after messing around with the 'Inter-key delay' advanced settings and flashing the firmware a few times, it started to work really well. Yesterday I bought a Harmony Touch remote. I took the opportunity to upgrade the Flirc software (as I had seen some threads mentioning about the Harmony profiles) to software 1.2.7 and then upgraded the firmware to V3.0. Unfortunately I then noticed that the key delay was back to how it was when I first got Flirc; between half and one second delay after clicking a button before it takes affect. Most noticeable on the EPG screen on XBMC I have tried the following: 1) Setting the 'Inter-key delay' in advanced settings to every available option (0-6) and flashing the firmware each time (I wasn't sure if the flashing was necessary, i tried it without though to no avail). I had to use a seperate Windows 7 PC that I have to re-flash the firmware as on my Windows 8.1 PC after the upgrade to software 1.2.7 the program crashes each time I run the force firmware upgrade. 2) Changing the device type on the harmony remote (thats to control XBMC) to a number of different things (Flirc XBMC, Microsoft MCE Keyboard, Microsoft Media Centre SE, a panasonic tv) 3) Changing the device delay settings in the harmony settings (interkey delay = 0 milliseconds, input delay = 0 milliseconds) All of the above has taken me around 2-3 hours of messing about and still no difference. Then, to see if my new Harmony remote was the cause I wiped the Flirc configuration and programmed my original One-For-All (URC 6430) remote on it. The remote itself was still programmed exactly the same, but yet I now had the same key delay on the One-For-All remote. So the conclusion I've reached is that something in the v.3.0 firmware or 1.2.7 software has caused it. Can anyone help please? I've had to go back to using a wireless keyboard as it's too slow to use. Thanks.
  23. Hello, I've been a Flirc user for several years and was thrilled to find the update for XBMC recently. I updated to the latest GUI/Firmware 3 days ago. I'm finding that every time I press a button mapped to an Alt+ or Ctrl+ or Win+ combination, Windows responds as if it were several key presses (more than 3). SO my Alt+F4 closes a program...and the computer gets shut down too, Alt+Tab FLIES through several open tasks and is like a roulette wheel on what I'll land on. Ctrl+ and Ctrl+Shift+ combinations do the same thing, so in Media Center, FF/REW go full throttle from the start, Record is impossible as well. I'm pretty sure the Win+ button combinations do the same thing but it's not as easy to test. I checked ALL the other buttons in programs or notepad or both and they work fine, single press. I tried the scale of inter-key delay from 0-6. I'm using a Harmony 880 and never had THIS problem before. I tested using both the actual key profiles in the GUI and the Full Keyboard, same result. Win7 machine Harmony 880 New clean config as of 09/16/14 my_flirc_config v3.fcfg
  24. I just got my fire tv and flirc setup complete about a week a go and I love it. The flirc works great with my harmony remote and it saves me from having to have a separate remote for the fire tv. I am having one issue though with the watch disney app. ON the app, there is a link where you can select 'More Shows', then stream other shows. However I am unable to actually select that link. When I naviagte to the link and click select nothing happens. If I use the original fire tv remote it selects it just fine. This seems to be the only place where I get an odd behavior with the select button. Using the harmony remote the select buttons works everywhere else(other apps, xbmc, etc) no problem. Is this a problem with the flirc or the app? My harmony is setup using the Panasonic TC-P65VT30 then flirc remaps the keys I need. Any thoughts? Thanks
  25. Help Please! The following is the setup I have... and nothing seems to work properly. FLIRC on OUYA running XBMC Setup Harmony Remote as "Manufacturer: Flirc" "Model: XBMC" Recorded buttons to FLIRC on Mac v1.26 app from Harmony Remote I have tried changing the following settings to try and stop either missed button presses, or jumpy presses (multiple hits for a single button press). I seem to either be missing presses, or moving 3 at a time, depending on settings. Harmony : Device Inter-Key delay : 0 - 500ms Inter-Device delay: 500ms (I left this one alone) Command Repeats: 0-3 (I've tried them all) FLIRC: Advanced - Inter-Key Delay: 0 - 6 (tried them all) Noise Canceller: On/Off (I tried this on, seemed to remove the extra keys but caused a huge lag / missed presses. I tried some other settings moved around with this on, but could not get rid of the horrible lag) I'm stuck... Thanks in advance.
