Apple TV 4K : not working, light on the Apple TV is telling it's receiving something but not working at all.

Happy to work through the rest, but I wanted to start here. I have an Apple TV 4K as well, and the Skip is working fine controlling it. Just to rule things out, have you made sure the controls you want are on the remote in the Skip app? So up is on the up button, etc?

  3. Presumably you're using a Flirc USB with NUC, right? Add something completely unrelated to the Shield like a home automation device or something, doesn't matter what, as long as it has a bunch of buttons. Then train your Flirc off those buttons using the Flirc app with the Kodi controller. What you're experiencing really probably shouldn't be happening, but this would definitely prevent it.

    @Nathan @jason

Guys just wondering if this email list is being used at all (I've had zip via it).  And can't find anything here about updates and what they might have fixed.

I really do understand and appreciate the size of your team, and what you are doing, but even one update a month would be helpful.  Nothing long, just a very quick summary of what's changed, fixed, or even broken, and maybe even a vague what might be happening next month.

Just something to know things are still occurring and it's not a dead product.

We actually have an email written and ready to send, but stopped because we realized the most recent update 0.9.93 probably needed a full blogpost to explain what was going on. Plan is to publish both at the same time. When the email goes out, it'll include .93, .92, and .90 changelogs. Excepting 93, it's mostly just adding devices and performance improvements, so not super exciting, but we should hopefully get it finally sent out in the next little while. After that, I think they should start going out more regularly.

    Nathan,

Yes, Netflix and Prime are built into the Tizen TV. As far as unused button, are you suggesting I'd use the number buttons? I was hoping I could just have three separate actions under A, B, and C which would set the context and underlying button mappings to work in her cableTV, Netflix and Prime apps, accordingly.

You can do it that way as well, you'd just add the same devices for B and C

@Nathan, I placed my order and received my Skip1s a few weeks ago. I'd like to configure it as follows with her Xfinity cable box and Samsung Tizen smart tv:

    A - INPUT HDMI1

    B - APP NETFLIX

    C - APP PRIME

This should be possible, right? Would these all be done under a single Activity?

Hi @DaveNJ, it might be this should all be under a single activity (or possibly two). Are Netflix and Prime being run off your TV or your cable box? I'm guessing it'd be your TV. If so, I'd say make activity A your cable box/HDMI, and activity B your TV. Then assign some unused buttons to switching between Netflix and Prime, perhaps this would be a good use of the color wheel.

SMSL SU-9 DAC is in database and it works for almost all SMSL DACs. Its in Misc category.

I have a different SMSL DAC and am using SU-9 DAC from the database.

Ahh, so just a category issue. We can add it over to audio and that should fix it then.

    Okay nevermind.

Just in case anyone stumbles upon this thread like I did, here's the topic you're looking for:

    Also here's a config for IOTAVX SA3.

(Includes only SA3 Buttons on original remote. NP3 Buttons are not in this config file.)

    -Cheers

    IOTAVX - SA3.json 8.28 kB · 1 download

Just doublechecking, is the IOTAVX something other than an Onkyo receiver? If so, I will create a new thread for it so we can be sure not to miss it and get it into the app

  9. I'm afraid I'm not sure what's happening here. Jason and the team are currently in the process of shipping about a thousand remotes to people, so he may take a sec to respond. In the meantime, could you grab the log for your remote and the app? Instructions below.

My only other suggestion would be to try downgrading your remote's firmware back to whatever it was and checking again. You can find a list of firmwares and software to downgrade here:

The safer move, though, would be to just post your log and see if Jason can figure out anything after shipping is done.

So I checked my email, and not seen anything back to say welcome the the list, this is how to unsubscribe etc as is normal (and in some countries a necessary to comply to they various data protection laws etc)   So I'm assuming the list server isn't running yet?

Honestly, I'm not sure how Mailchimp's welcome service works. I'll see about setting up if it isn't.

I am currently using a Flirc with an old Firefly Mini IR remote. It is workable in its current set up but lacks the ability to control the TCL TV Volume controls on the Firefly Mini. I would like to switch over to the Skip so I could have one integrated remote that controls everything in my setup. Thanks.

If you're using a Flirc, just pick any of the Flirc options that correlate to what you want to do with keyboard commands when setting up the Skip, then after the Skip is setup, train the Flirc with those new commands. I don't think the Flirc comes with a full set of keyboard commands built in, so that still requires training in the Flirc app.

When there is a new release of either firmware or app, is it possible to get a change log published at that time, just so we know if this is an update we can help support and test.  Also is there any way we can get an alert email for this.

We haven't really done this before, but it sounds as though more people would like this kind of thing, so I've made a signup form specifically for skip updates.

  13. Hi all! It's been requested that we provide some kind of easy way to get notifications about new updates to Skip and the Skip App. Seemed like the easiest way to do this was to create a subgroup of our mailing list that was specifically for Skip news and changelogs.

For the most part, we pretty rarely send out a lot of emails, so this will be a bit of a change for us and a learning experience. So if you sign up and don't like the frequency of emails (too many, too few, etc.) feel free to comment below. We want this to be a collaborative process.

Signup form can be found on the Skip page under downloads:

I have a very simple setup. Mac Mini connected to a TCL Roku TV. I set the A button on the Skip to the TCL and everything works fine. I moved on to set up the B to control various media players I use on the Mac Mini(VLC, IINA, Movist Pro) but I cannot for the life of me find the Device, Brand or Model combo to give me the Apple Keyboard to map to the Skip B buttons. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Are you using a Flirc to control the Mac mini? Or do you have one of those older Mac minis that has an IR sensor?

Dragging the POWER OFF command list from a device onto the remote device made added it to the remote device, but removed it from the command list, preventing the command from being assigned to multiple buttons OR the POWER UP/POWER ON. Not sure what the expected behavior is. The UI is so bad on this I fired a UX designer on my team out of spite.

Removing any button should just remove the button, it shouldn't prevent it from being added elsewhere or back. Are you still experiencing this? I don't think I've seen this behavior and would like to try to replicate it.

I just gone done doing Activity A which is just using the ShieldTV.  I must be doing something wrong because after mapping all the buttons and syncing the remote, unplugging it from the computer and pushing any button gives no response whatsoever.  No lights on the remote, power button does nothing and no changes on the tv.  Even pressing the 4 color button in the middle of the remote does nothing.  When I first put the batteries in that button at least made the remote light up.  I was able to get it to communicate when it was connected and when I was mapping the buttons and pressing 'test actions'.  I did update to the firmware when it prompted me to.

If you plug it back in, does it work again? I'm curious if there's something odd going on with the batteries.

The skip remote and flirc usb arrived. I am able to run the Flirc linux app in fedora but I cannot get it to "see" any button presses from the skip remote.

Out of the box, do any of the buttons on the remote actually send a signal? The A B C and light buttons light up as expected (I think) but when the Flirc app is in learning mode it never reacts to any button presses of the skip remote.

At the moment I would simply like remote/flirc to do the basic multimedia key events like play/pause etc.

I might be misunderstanding the question, but the Skip doesn't come pre-programmed with Flirc commands, though that's not a terrible idea. The expectation is that you'll want to set up the Skip with more than just a Flirc, so each remote comes clean and expects at least a first run of the Skip App to set things up the first time.

    Hi there

For more than 1 month I haven't heard from you. I can't use my remote, because code is missing for my Cambridge Audio EDGE A. That's annoying. Please complete the code.

    Thank you

I'm adding this to a ticket so Jason can make sure he doesn't lose it. In the meantime, I'd suggest, since Mute and Un-Mute are different commands, to put them on different buttons, if you happen to have a free button near the bottom of the remote.

Apologies, I didn't realize I signed up to be a beta tester for this app. I'm returning to trying to get it to be useful for me after a few months break.

    Some things missing/absolutely broken:
-Clone activity is greyed out, would be really useful after spending a weekend trying to get one activity to work as intended, to copy to a new activity
-Swap activity letter is greyed out, would be useful if that worked
-Lower right options button "Website" "Community" and "Manual" don't do anything
-Leave feedback un-focuses after a few seconds
-Some devices "power toggle" button assignments disappears after assigning it to a button
-Device/Model lists go white after selection, annoying GUI issue

    Suggestions:
-The GUI isn't useful or attractive enough to warrant the slow transitions of graphics for actions
-The GUI doesn't show the entire length of text for some of the "device/model" entries
-The hardware is nice, but the app is so bad I'd happily learn whatever new syntax I need to bypass the app and program the remote.

Thanks for the feedback @Chris Jr. Most of your points we either also have in our list or broadly agree with. Could you elaborate on the power toggle assignments disappearing? Not sure I follow, or possibly I haven't seen that issue.
