  1. To change the viewed channel on Kodi with a keyboard it is necessary to use the up and down buttons to find the channel then press enter to select it. Kodi changes to the channel and after a short delay, removes the information pane from the screen. I am trying to reproduce this behaviour with Flirc. I started by programming the up button with "up" then programming the same button with a Long Press for "enter" and that worked fine. When I tried the same with the down button I kept getting this: ~ % flirc_util record down Press any button on the remote to link it with 'down' Succesfully recorded button ~ % flirc_util record_lp return Press any button on the remote to link it with 'return' [E] lib/libflirc/firmware/fw_4.0.c fl_ver4_set_interrupt(380): Error: key not found Error: You must first record this remote button with the regular flirc_util record command. Example: flirc_util record `<first function>` flirc_util record_lp return I finally guessed it might mean that the first button was already assigned although the error message did not say that. So I deleted the button and redid it and it worked. Perhaps the error message needs amending to be more expanatory? Now when I use it, sometimes it works fine, sometimes when the long press is used it shows the next channel 9i.e., the short press up or down is actioned and then the long press) but opens the one I want but sometimes it not only flips to the next channel on screen but opens it instead of the one I want. I can't reproduce it every time, it simply happens occasionally. Is there anything I can do to prevent it? Additionally, sometimes the screen information clears but sometimes it does not and then the up and down buttons will not work unless I first escape to the plain screen. Again, it is not a consistent error, sometimes it happens and sometimes it does not. Any ideas on this one?
  2. Thanks Jason, that works! Will try to record a macro. I did not notice that instruction in the guide that I read. Also, I was mislead because the advanced button allow me to select between Record, Long Press and Macro. What is the purpose of these selcetors? When I read the manual I am confused and I suspect the manual is not correct? Here is the hello example. The first instruction is record but shouldn't the followng ones all be record_macro? If I follow this instruction I will end up with just "o" won't I? (Or error messages to say the button is already recorded)? Example 1: "hello" The following example shows how to use the commandline utility to send the word 'hello' on a single remote control press. To do this, we must first record the letter 'h', then record the remainder as macros on top of 'h'. Below will show the complete working example of this: bash $ flirc_util record h Press any button on the remote to link it with 'h' Succesfully recorded button bash $ flirc_util record e Press any button on the remote to link it with 'e' Succesfully recorded button bash $ flirc_util record l Press any button on the remote to link it with 'l' Succesfully recorded button bash $ flirc_util record l Press any button on the remote to link it with 'l' Succesfully recorded button bash $ flirc_util record o Press any button on the remote to link it with 'o' Succesfully recorded button
  3. Hi Macbook air running 10.15.3 using flirc_util 3.25.3 with hardware version 4.9.3. Trting to use the CLI to install a macro but I cannot get all command to work. Version and help are fine but when I try to use flirc_util eys I get the response "device disconnected, can't run command" but flirc is connected and recording standard buttons is fine. Tried removing and reconnecting the usb device but it is the same. Any command that requires a response from the dongle gives the same response. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
  4. I am a new Flirc user and have set up this old Sony controller to run my librelec Kodi on an old TV where the remote is missing. I have only done simple single press programming so far and got stuck because I cannot get the on off button to work (not for the tv but for the kodi setup). Have tried three times now and each time it tells me it has registered the button but it does not work. I assumed it would take me to the exit options window in Kodi but it does nothing. Is it something I have done or is it an issue with FLIRC? Also, is there a way to print off a correlation table to show what I have programmed where? I know most of the buttons are obvious but some are not and it would be helpful to have a crib sheet to remind me and others which button does what.
