I have 3 Flircs that I have been using for well over a year with Harmony 650s and MythTV (MythBuntu 14.04.3). I recently went to modify a button on one unit and was instructed to upgrade the firmware (which of course wiped out all my programming). After the upgrade I restored my configuration file and nothing worked. I had to manually all of the buttons on that unit. Ever since the "upgrade" it has been sending unusual commands to MythTV. Most of the problem keys are compound (Ctrl+Alt+XX) keystrokes but a couple are simple (like a D).
I found mention of a firmware 3.7 and tried to follow that link but it would not redirect. I also found that the latest version (from https://www.flirc.tv/downloads) is supposed to be 1.4.0 but when I try to upgrade to it (apt-get-update and apt-get install flirc) I get the message that I already have the latest firmware. my sources.list does have the correct repo for flirc in it.
I've concluded that 3.6 is a waste. Is there something newer that fixes the problem with the double/random/endless keys being sent by Flirc? If so, how do I find it? If not, how do I revert to a version that works?

I have 3 flirc devices installed for about a year and had no problems until about a couple of weeks ago when two of them began sending the suspend key to my MythTV Front End randomly. It might be once every 2-3 days or it might happen several times in one day but it is always the suspend key, no others.
I plugged one flirc units into my Ubuntu workstation and ran the flirc GUI, which prompted me to upgrade the firmware. Before I upgraded the firmware I saved the configuration just in case the upgrade destroyed the keys I had installed, which it did. After confirming that nothing worked I loaded the configuration back into the flirc but nothing changed. Nothing works. I re-saved the configuration to a new file name and compared the two files. They are identical.
How do I get the unit working with the new firmware?
Is there a chance that the firmware upgrade could have fixed the random suspend key problem?

I definitely have to record the suspend key so if I want any key to resume the machine I'll have to program the remotes to use different commands. For the time being I'll see how I like it it with only the one button being able to resume the machine.
Any other neat tricks I need to know?

Thanks, that took care of just about everything quite nicely. Now I just need to figure out how to get the Flirc to resume the system from suspend while plugged into a USB 3.0 socket (all that's available on the front of the machine). By any chance does the Flirc identify itself as Clay Logic when I list USB devices?

irw is a Linux command line function which directs input from the USB port to the terminal screen. I happen to be using RC-6 and hopefully won't need to change.
If I am reading you correctly, I need to make sure that each button has all its signals set to the same key combination and I should be ok, correct? Also, once I do that I can save it to file and program other Flircs to be identical simply by loading that configuration, correct?

I'm using remotes that reliably send the same signal on each button press at least as best as I can determine using irw, they are Harmony 650 and Harmony 350. I assume you mean to clear a Flirc and record clean doing each button twice?

I've noticed that some commands require two button presses on the remote while others require one. I havent' found anything to indicate how to specify which should require two and which only one. Is there someplace I should look for it?

the configuration stays on the device.
You save the configuration with:
flirc_util saveconfig <filename>
It won't automatically load. You have to:
flirc_util loadconfig <filename>

Not quite.
After I finish programming a Flirc, tested the program to make sure it is what I want, and stored it in a file using the GUI or flirc_util, I now have two more Flircs I need to install the same program in and I don't want to go through all the button presses again. So, after I Ioad the program either with the GUI or flirc_util, how do I transfer it to the 2nd and 3rd Flirc?
Is there someplace where all of the available flirc_util commands are documented?

I installed the GUI on my regular workstation (Ubuntu 14.04) and all is working fine. One Harmony 350 programs just fine and works great except that it repeats too quickly so I need to eliminate repeats on many keys. Also, if I save a configuration to disk and later load it back into the software, will it automatically transfer to a Flirc unit if there is one plugged in? If not, how do I get a set of commands from stored file to a Flirc? Since I have multiple Flirc units to manage and all will need the same program installed, this is important.

I'm still using Ubuntu 12.04 rather than 14.04 simply because 14.04 broke some things in MythTV that I like to have work without having to invoke any magical incantations. At the same time I'm less than completely satisfied with Ubuntu; I chose it when I moved to Linux (a move brought on by Windows 8) because it seemed to be the most widely accepted and had a distro (Mythbuntu) specifically tailored to MythTV that made things very convenient.
If I am reading correctly. I can program a Flirc on one machine and then move it to another and it will work properly. If that is the case I may have a solution because I should be able to install the software on my regular workstation, program the Flircs and then deploy them to their lightweight front end machines. Is it necessary to have LIRC running on the machine which does the programming?

Good luck. In the meantime, is there a firmware version number I can put into a wget statement to get a download or is there a problem using Flirc from a cli also?

Entered sudo Flirc - got the following error messages:
QGtkStyle was unable to detect the current GTK+ theme.
Flirc: symbol lookup error
Flirc: undefined symbol: libusb_get_port_number
Tried while logged in as root, same result. I did notice a brief flash of apparent graphics in the upper left area of the screen immediately after I executed Flirc.

If I could get to the GUI I would do as you suggest. When I said the program does not launch I meant the GUI. I click on Flirc in Accessories and nothing happens. I don't mind using command line if I knew how to find the firmware version. fw_1.0.bin is no longer available (404 error).

I'm trying to install my new Flirc on a Zotac AD03 running Mythbuntu 12.04. I got the sources list modified and the apt-get-update and apt-get install flirc work fine and the program shows up in Applications -> Accessoreis -> Flirc. When I click on it it does not launch. The wait icon is present for a few seconds before the normal mouse pointer returns. Just on a chance I installed ia32-libs, nothing.
I found a command line approach but I can't find a firmware version that doesn't return a 404 when I attempt a wget http://downloads.flirc.tv/fw/fw_x.x.bin.
How do I get firmware into the device?

Thanks. Now I need to figure out how the sequence modifiers got re-enabled in the first place. Maybe the change to 3.6 did it by default?
