  1. Yamaha RAV370 universal/programmable remote. it was bundled with the Yamaha DSP-AX3800 A/V amplifier

If it's a universal remote, what device is currently programed to be paired with filrc?

My recommendation is just switching the device on the remote. If you find out what it is now, let me know, it will help me. But that's usually pretty hard to find out.

  2. Ah, well. I spoke too soon anyway. A most unusual thing about folks with motor control difficulties is they aren't consistent. That is to say they have good days and bad days, good hours and bad hours...

Mrs. got up from a nap and can't consistently control the Fire TV.

    Am I using  the Inter-Key Delay correctly? 0 = No Delay and 6 = Maximum Delay (600mS?)?

    not quite 600ms, but yes.

Can I recommend getting one of the harmony line remotes? They are good for exactly this reason, they don't allow accidental pushes and insert delays for 100% consistency. They come in 30 dollar models.

  3. Mrs. had been having intermittent difficulty with the 5-way on our universal remote due to a motor skills problem. I was able to duplicate what she was experiencing almost literally by just thinking about holding the buttons rather than just clicking them. On a whim, I replaced the Fire TV remote programming with the Minimalist programming and noticed an improvement. I then changed the Inter-Key Delay from the default 3 to 2. She can now navigate the Fire TV without any issues.

I hope this will help someone having similar difficulties.

Jason: Can you confirm a difference in the code between the Minimalist setup and the Fire TV? I'm guessing the Fire TV is sending a more continuous burst, whereas the Minimalist only sends one or two bursts?

There is literally no difference in how buttons are sent via minimal or firetv. In fact, I will say that the buttons are probably different and might inhibit normal operation in some contextual menus.

I'm guessing the interkey delay is doing most of the improvement. When you switched, did you clear your configuration?

  4. Thank you Massaguana, if you would like to revert, I will help you. I'm very sorry, I did see your message on twitter, and I am aware of the forum described above. With only 3 people out of total units, I have to say this is more of an anomaly than something serious. And being a one man show, I have to be extremely careful with where I spend my time right now. It's so limited. I do intend on looking at this. I have a handful of items I'm working on in the next release candidate and this unfortunately isn't one them.

Again, I can help you downgrade for the time being, but I really want to be honest and open. I always intended on putting together a website that shows bug and feature status so that people know things are moving forward.

Check out my git commit graph of how active things are. (Keep in mind, this is outside of sales, marketing, support, shipping, manufacturing, rma's, my full time job, and a baby) Just one piece of the puzzle. I am at the point now where I don't have any free time. And if I do take some free time, I end up paying for it with no sleep, or high stress.

Please accept my apologies, and let me know if downgrading is an option in the short term.

  5. Hi,

A couple of months ago I bought a Flirc-SE for the added functionality of powering on and off my HTPC. While I believe the feature should have been available by the time of purchase, I have waited patiently for a firmware update (not beta fw), which should add this functionality. However, as it appears it is not yet available, I kindly ask what the timeframe is?

I know the feature is there in beta firmware, but I am not happy about having to use potentially buggy/unstable firmware, or even risking to brick the unit, just to get a feature I paid for :(

I know it is tough to do this as a free-time job for 1 guy, but I feel like this product shouldn't have been released until it was more ready.

If, for some reason I overlooked the inclusion of this feature, I am sorry. I am running firmware 3.3, but when forcing FW update through the GUI, it tells me that 3.3 is the latest firmware version.

I believe it's a great product, but I'm getting frustrated by the lack of this advertised feature.

I understand your frustration. Believe me, I'm just as frustrated in never having enough time.

I have however pushed a release to address this, it is in by no means beta. It is a release candidate. I have not made it public because I have promised other features and fixes. You can find it here:

You'll need the commandline and if you want me to walk you through it today, I'm happy to do so. You can find me on gchat or skype, username jasonkotzin

  6. I don't want to be harassed anymore. Sure, return it. I've bought 5 remotes. None of them work on 3 different machines. I'll get it working, check the latest for the update on when that is.

I keep trying and trying to get wmce remotes. It'll get fixed, can't promise a time anymore if nothing ever works for me. I'm locking this thread for now.

You can always pair the media center buttons in the GUI, those work for play/ff/rewind.
