    If not already, insert Flirc into USB of PC on which Flirc GUI software is installed

    Navigate to flirc installation directory, in Windows XP this is normally C:\Program Files\Flirc\

    In there, there is another directory called cli change to this directory (cd cli)

    From this directory you can run the command line program flirc.exe

    You can check the flirc is recognised by entering

    flirc.exe version

    To change the sensitivity enter

    flirc.exe sensitivity 0

    (as I said in previous post, 0 seems to work fine, you could try other values, 3 didn't work for me)

    If successful you will get a message about having to reprogram the device, TBH I'm not sure if that is actually necessary so try the remote first to see if it works, if it doesn't reprogram it via the GUI

    Alternatively, from the Run menu:

    "C:\Program Files\flirc\cli\flirc.exe" sensitivity 0

    (make sure you put the quotes in the right places)

    nice!

    we need a GUI to tweak the sensitivity, this would help non-tech savvy's

    @00g

    I had exactly the same problem (also a Sony remote, probably not a coincidence)

    I can confirm that setting the sensitivity to 0 via the command line fixed the problem. A value of 3 doesn't work, I've not tried 1 or 2.

    I guess the down and left buttons work on very similar frequencies.

    Wouldn't that essentially be the beta-firmware images (as they are being tested for the next stable firmware)?

    I'll make a sticky of accepted (by Jason) ideas... at some point in te near future.

    i just updated the FW to the beta "wake up" version, and the problem persists.
    And it doesn't matter if I'm scrolling through a list quickly or slowly. Every one in a while it'll just go left.

    I've used command line stuff in the past. But, not much. Mostly just for rooting my phones and what-not.

    We could change the sensitivity dynamically, are you familiar with the command line? This hasn't made it's way into the GUI yet.

    Erase all IR codes associated with a given key.
    curently we can erase the IR codes one at a time, given that with certain remotes we have to program each button twice it'd be nice to click erase and then click a key on the virtual keyboad and have that erase all IR code associated with it.

    so if you had a problem with the behaviour with the up arrow, for example, you could click erase, then the up arrow on the virtual keyboard and every IR code associated with it would be deleted so you could just remap that key again without it undoing anything else. i guess its more of an issue for those with things like the xbox remote which need each button programming twice because you have to erase each button twice and things start to go horribly horribly wrong if you only erase one of the two IR codes.

    [XBMC] 'parent dir' and 'back' both get mapped to backspace.
    the 'parent dir' and 'back' buttons in the flirc xbmc giu window both get mapped to backspace key.

    internally to xbmc, backspace is the default key for 'back' and 'parentdir' is classified as an 'action' that can be called/mapped but doesn't have a default key assigned to it so it kinda doesn't make sense for it to have a button in the flirc gui, especially if it gets mapped to backspace which is already covered by 'back'.

    for consistancy the parentdir button in the gui should be removed.

    great idea!

    Users might be afraid that this ERASE button = CLEAR ALL buttons...

    but again, having a tooltip popup when mouse hovers on that ERASE button can solve this issue per se...

    popup can say like "click here to erase a map'ed button"

    Also, it would be nice to be able to press a button on the remote and have the GUI show which key it is currently mapped to, if any.

    Change Erase button
    Users seem to have some confusion (which I full understand),
    ()
    The erase button is a bit too vague (in my opinion).
    Perhaps change the wording from:

    to

    Or similar

    Just an idea!

  18. 00g added a post in a topic Directional keypresses mixing up.

    When I get home today, I intend on giving the new beta FW a test and see if that fixes the issue. The FW I'm using now is the one Jason sent me via email when he fixed the issue where the FLIRC was going to sleep and not waking up (v1.0).

    The issue happens whether I'm repeatedly pressing the button, and when I hold the button down. As for slow presses, I'll have to check. I'd say my normal scrolling rate when looking for a movie would be 1.5-2 presses per second.

    I'm currently using a Sony DVD remote. My previous remote I believe was a RCA DVD (old school Xbox IR codes).

    Hi 00g, welcome to the FLIRC forums.

    I haven't heard of this issue so far just to clarify a few points:
    What firmare are you using?
    When scrolling up or down slowly it is fine but multiple repeats cause it to go left
    What remotes have you tried?
    Cheers!

    Directional keypresses mixing up.
    If I'm going down (or up) through a directory in XBMC, and I'm pressing down (or up) repeatedly, it will all of a sudden go left. Then, I'll have to press right to get back to the directory and continue my navigation.

    This is on a Acer Revo 3700. I've tried this with a few different remotes thinking maybe the IR codes were too similar on the remote I was using. But, the outcome was the same.

    well, if the remote issues needs to be in remote control forum

    then, to follow the patern,

    the Firmware Issues need to be in Firmware forum

    and GUI Issues need to be in GUI forum...

    to much forums for nothing in my opinion,,,

    i believe its simpler the way i suggest...

    BUG REPORT
    * Firmware Issues
    * GUI Issues
    * Remote Issues

    BAM!!! :)

    if you create it he can ask you questions (should be need to)

    I think the "remote issues" should be in the remote forum (created today for extra freshness!).

    I'm not sure how required it is though, forum categories aren't going to be perfect.
